Yea but you dont understand that they believe that Witchcraft is of the devil. The Christians of old knew(1600's)the truths of how Catholics Stole their religion from Pagan. When I mean stole their religion I mean they stole Pagan holidays and such. Since they didnt want pagans to be around, the stole a couple of things from us to make our transition from Paganism to Catholicism easier, as Healer said. To tell you the truth, I dont like when people talk down to other religions. You dont know which religion is the truth so thats why we have open minds. But you cant have open minds and a closed heart about something. Well as a Choate, I take in all religions and I tear them apart and put them together like a puzzle. I believe in the Christian God and Devil but as different forms then what other people think.
I wouldn't say witchcraft pre-dates all religions but magick does. I dont think the people back then used the word witchcraft. But take it from their point of view. You see all of these different people doing weird rituals that you were taught were bad and were things of the devil. I dont blame the pagans for converting. There are accounts that said that the Catholics literally said Convert or die. But thats what they taught and Christians stand by their religion till the end, some anyway. The over-bearing ones are the people who say repent for all your sins. If you do this and do that then your going to hell. But it depends on your take of the bible. Some only follow the 10 Commandments. Others follow the book down to the letter, meaning they do not each shellfish and they know where to buy their slaves(I think thats in the bible.) Also, the bible predicted the various changes that would happen to our world. Thats why alot of people are converting now because they believe revalations. I believe in it too, somewhat.
You sit there and say "poor pagans are picked on" and you generalize every church and every christian. You think somehow by sterotyping them, that makes you better than the extremist? You aren't. In my eyes you are just as judgemental as the christains who take it to the extreme.
I see no reason for you to even give a damn about what the different church's out there do if you are not involved in it. I see no reason for you to be critical of those who do not share the exact same beliefs as you....yet you give off that vibe and it's really rather sad.
Do not concern yourself if someone is a catholic or christain of any type who wants to practice magick. It's not your place to judge what they do or how they do it.
TRUE Christians do not judge others on how they follow their religious or spiritual path. And there are some out there who follow true christianity.
*sigh* you know what just forget it..healer yeah ok im soooo close minded that i accept every religion out there & im very open into joining any.So dont judge me by false assumptions.=) second of all *again for the people who are a bit slow* it's not my point of view!so therefore i am informing not judging or anything close to that subject. So do not judge me your just making yourself *look like* you have lack of intelligence (& really have nothing better to do)so yeah,i hope this post sets me aside, & you continue with your *stuff* =)
The difference in the way the supernatueal is viewed in the Bible is Based solely on the Diety you claim to be the source of your Power..Or Magick..While it does say that witchs will burn.It is refering to those that practice witchcraft with a Pagan God as the source of their Power.Moses was confronted By magicians and retaliated with magick in return. There are stories all throuigh out the old and new testament of Signs and Wonders performed in the name of God,and The only noticible difference between them and The Pagans is the name called on to perform them. When I was in the church if I healed a person with a chant or spell..it was called a miracle or an act of God..Now If I heal a person its called witchcraft..A name is just a name.Stereotyping only shows the intollerance of those doing it.I am not and Have never been Catholic, but I am familiar with some of their ways, and I am a Christian and I learned a long time ago, that its not what Religion thinks of me that matters. Its what I think of me.I and I alone have to answer to my God for the way I am,or Im not,and thats all that matters.Every person has the free will to make their own decision in this matter and in the end answer for themselves. If you believe in what your doing and have no conflict within you, then dont let the opinions of others,,including mine change you....Just my thoughts
"christains will sterotype"
"its not my point of view its the way the church views"
Those my dear, are direct quotes from you. Now perhaps you didn't use your words properly and didn't MEAN to generalize as much as you did, but that's what you wrote, and that is narrow minded to assume a way of thinking for millions of people and hundreds of different church's.
Just sayin. I'll go about my *stuff* now cause ya know...I have nothing better to do.
im very sorry if i offended anyone.& i will & can admit when im wrong & when i need to just give up & so i will...you win people thanks for the wise statements.=)
