I honestly have no idea if I am an empath or not but I do know I don't feel things correctly. People think I'm heartless or otherwise a blind rock when it comes to emotion but I am not exactly as they think. It seems as though I can feel people's emotions or at least sence them and the longer I am in contact with someone the more of them I feel. Like feeling how they think and act and sometimes uncontrollable if it is strong enough I begin to feel like they do and think like they do... But when they go away I return to normal. I also feel the weather stronger then most. When it rains I become I'll feeling, when the sun dosnt shine I feel tired, when it is warm and sunny I am bouncing off the wall with energy, when it is a bright start night I think clearer. I don't know if any of that means anything or even makes sence but I finde it odd.
i'll be leaving where Kosuke left off, Silvershade, that is a real condition. research 'Seasonal Affective Disorder' and you'll see how you relate to that. In my own personal advice use it to your advantage :) It's a remarkable gift, Whisper, don't take it for granted. Interesting thoughts everyone, thank you :)
Any contributing ideas about energy?
also, Btterfly, i am the same way :) i enjoy it :D
and Road, be careful with that, you don't want to get to enveloped by other's emotions to where you can't help them.
I have been an empath for about 7 years now and am very advanced at it. It is to the point that if I am focusing no one can lie to me. And no I did not get that off of harry potter. A lie is a type of emotion and I can sense it. I use empathy for understanding people at their very core. I am a people person and love to hang out with them. Therefore empathy is very useful for me.

I agree with Whisper, it is very common. Just like eye sight and hearing, some of us have an incredible degree of it, others lack it entirely, most are somewhere in the middle. But as Kit said, it should still be appreciated as a gift. I count my sight as a gift too.
I just read about the seasonal affective disorder and it's symptoms... I don't think I have any type of depression and the articles made it sound terrible.
Good job Nova! :) And yes, Rav3n. I appreciate your input, and i will be sure not note the other senses. Also, SAD doesn't necessaraly mean depression with the winter like some websites say. One of my cousins have it and it changes with every type of weather which is why i suggested it in the first place. Also, just a suggestion! :)

Take note that science doesn't know exactly why some people (and even animals) are effected by the weather. I like to think they are more sensitive to nature. But there is a difference between being sensitive and being controlled by it. I believe those with SAD cannot control their own emotions, therefore their sensitivity becomes dominant.
I just become sleepy when its raining. It's so calming and dim lit, it makes me want to take a nap! =P
This may seem like kind of a late reply, but I just read this and saw that I must feel emotion different from other empaths. My friends have a history of depression, though are also very great liars. Whenever we are at school (yes, I'm 14), and one of them walks in with a smile on their face, it usually takes a minute but even if they're acting normal it's like I just know they're sad or angry. I don't feel anything, I just know... It's like that with complete strangers as well, so it's not just that I know them so well. Amd I can only pick up on hidden feelings. If someone walks in and is extremely excited and shows it, I know, but it's not the same feeling as a hidden emotion... Confusing, I know.
