Just because I joined the Spell Casters coven doesn't make me as stupid as the people in that
There is so much logical fallacy in that:
1: Fallacy of accident or sweeping generalization:
Its like saying "Cutting people is a crime and surgeons cut people so surgeons are huge crime lords"
2: Converse fallacy of accident or hasty generalization:
Its assuming everyone there is the same when a ton of us are very skilled (A great example of this is Nekoshema is by far one of the wisest people I've met and no where near fluffy for joining that)
3: Irrelevant conclusion:
The coven leader said there is a such thing as battle mages (Which is a skill class from many online games such as World of Warcraft) so battle mages are real but you take the word as they are a leader so you assume its true
Zrozex "Just because I joined the Spell Casters coven doesn't make me as stupid as the people in that "
You talk about logical fallacies but don't you realise you mae them yourself! You called everyone in the coven idiots.
In other words you judged over 20 people on what you read on a site and a coven page which has information which has not been changed for years, I didn't call you an idiot I merely said your coven is the a well known coven with a lot of fluffy idiots not that you yourself was a fluffy idiot.
And also I have never before ow bad mouthed that coven ever and what gives you the right to do so to someone elses I do not know, I am fairly certain noone in my coven has gone around asking for werewolf or vampire spells, in other words we don't annoy people and so the only reason you might have insulted us is out of your own spite you had nothing to gain from it that I know of and no provoked reason either.

Truth right here. I think we need to take a moment to look at what we mean but "the coven."
Its over-arching goal is not remotely fluffy. It isn't phrased in the most Hermetically serious way possible, but then there's also no reason why it needs to be. The Grey School of Wizardry is another good example of this - an essentially good and serious institution which uses slightly fluffy-sounding terminology. We could therefore voice our opinion that it is perhaps not the best choice to use such terms, but we would be in error to just sweepingly label everything in it as fluffy.
A lot of the information associated with the coven, now that is fluffy. As Wiccandeity pointed out, that information is pretty old. We can from it infer that they were fluffy in the past, but not conclude that they are still fluffy today. Regardless of whether or not they are fluffy they will at the very least look fluffy to everyone around them. This has the obvious two-fold problem of attracting fluffy people and repelling the serious practitioner. This isn't an absolute, but it's a pretty noticeable trend and should most certainly be stopped.
Are the coveners fluffy? Certainly some of them are. I know the ranking system on SoM is imperfect, but I've found it to be generally accurate. Have you looked at your coven's rankings compared to those of other covens? Not to suggest that we're all in some sort of competition, but don't you find it suspicious at all that your coven has not only failed to attract any Knowledgeable members, but only even has two Novices? It can't be that there's just so few members interested in what your coven offers, because there are covens that have a great deal of overlap with the Council that don't suffer this problem.
I considered joining your coven, actually. Too many things I found were fluffy as can be, though. And all this goes back to my point about appearances and repelling members - even if not one of you believes you can fly and shoot exploding anime beams, that's still what you're effectively telling me and anyone else who actually researches your coven before signing up. These people are of course the most likely to be taking things seriously and have a genuine interest in the well-being of the coven. They are, in other words, the last people in the world you'd want to repel.
Anyway my point with all this was that there are some measures of the coven where it is quite fluffy and others where it certainly is not. For the sake of those good parts we should not allow the fluffy parts to drag it down but we should also not start attacking the coven arbitrarily.
I am interested in joining, but I would have to make a new account, as I just joined this one and I am not one to "touch and go" on covens. My knowledge is limited but I will share what I know. I am an active member though, and would very much like to join, so if you could please send me a mail if you will, I would be glad to make a dedicated account for this coven.
