I understand there may be some differences
between what people practice and what I mentioned,
but what I mentioned is taught in Spirit Seers.
So I guess you could call it a necromantic coven.
And if that is the case then for necromancy lessons,
join Spirit Seers. :D
We'll be happy to have new members,
but please have a display pic set
and a bio written out.
Blackthorn,
I just got that from the fact that "necromancy"
translates from Greek to "Divination of the Dead"
or similar variants in English.
Basically you make contact and ask questions.
A more modern form of necromancy may include
requesting aid with various tasks
that would involve more from the spirit,
requesting history lessons to learn of the past
instead of gazing or asking about the future,
and even sending a spirit out
to scout out a spot in the present time.
And that is what I've gathered from various sites I checked.
Again, this is taught in Spirit Seers as well,
however we do not teach anything that might be considered
disrespectful or otherwise inappropriate to the dead.
We do not support the digging up of graves,
the enforcement of a spirit's aid(no means no),
or any form of punishing a spirit for declining your request.
I'm feeling more talkative then I thought...

Your welcome and thank you.
I thought you probably wouldn't need the extra help,
I was more mentioning that for the newer members
who are looking for a necromantic coven.

i pose 2 questions for the necromancers 1 why would the spirits of the dead hang around to converse with the living and not move on to the utopian existance nearly all religons promise and 2 not doubt i will be given reasons for their staying then why o why have the ones what have stayed and have all this knowledge during all these blood filled centuries not ended the mystery the surrounding death and the afterlife or which religon if any is the one true religon seeing this more so than any other is the cause of most wars and why many of them are there in the first place

Greymagi, you should study
the concept of reincarnation a bit more
as well as what a spirit is.
I'm to tired to answer this question right now,
especially since you can answer it yourself
if you have the intellect and patience to do your own research,
but if you must have an answer given to you just send me a message
and I will reply as soon as I am awake and have time.

nice pic change m.d but i am not well up on reincarnation it tends to conflict with how i perceive the journey if you will as for is for studying it i have no inclination for it i know some people do and i respect that but i welcome debate on it the way i deem anything on this subject is to air my views and beliefs i dont ever claim to be right nor do i expect anyone to adopt them but in like manner i hope by coming here i will see many new facets to the subject as a whole but may not automatically adopt such views

This site can't handle a "true necromancy coven".

Thanks about the pic,
I made this one myself.
I understand what you're saying,
but necromancy kind of relies on belief
just as any other form of magick does.
Except that necromancy also relies on a certain belief
about spirits and their cycle.
To simplify the cycle for you,
it goes something like this;
1) Body dies and spirit(or soul) is released.
2) Spirit goes on a journey into the spirit world.
3) Spirit regains memories of past lives(thus their higher wisdom)
4) Spirit either moves on to the next life(thus reincarnating)
or the spirit hangs out in the spirit world.
If the spirit hangs out in the spirit world
it can be for several reasons.
Spirits have what is called a "spirit family"
or a group of spirits that they often incarnate with.
This spirit family can also act as spirit guides for each other
while the non-incarnated spirits are still in the spirit world.
So a spirit may stay there after dieing to act as a guide
or to wait for certain living family members
that he/she wishes to incarnate with(such as a soul mate).
Something to keep in mind is that time means nothing to spirits.
One day to us is like a second or less to them.
That is why we don't have to wait
long after they die to contact them.
Also, spirits may stick around on this plane,
not completing their journey into the spirit world,
as they wait to watch their own funeral
or to give someone that certain feeling to let them know
that everything is/will be ok.
So there you have it.
Sorry if I seemed rude in the last post I made,
I was tired and a little agitated.

Fawkes,

Which one?
I know there were two attempts but they failed.

The Spirit Seers coven teaches traditional necromancy.
We don't teach stereotypical necromancy,
which would be disrespecting spirits(for some unknown reason)
and raising the dead for minions,
we teach the traditional stuff
which is purely for knowledge and wisdom.
