Hello whiteraven. I'm new to this site and found this piece very interesting. Can I ask... When reading a rune cast do you read an inverted rune negatively. I know some runes are more negative than others and have often wondered why should more negativity be added just because a rune is inverted. Thankyou.... Mark

Would you say that sigils and runes are related?

Noah, bindrunes would be much closer to sigils. It's combining two (sometimes more) runes to represent an idea.

Stephen Flowers/Edred Thorsson's books are probably the best source for Rune Magick. He has all the scholarly cred one could want (a PhD from the Germanic Languages department at The University of Texas--Austin) and a decidedly non-academic writing style.(On the other hand, his Rune Gild strikes me as a bit too much like the Golden Dawn Order gone off playing Viking.)

I agree, Horatius! I have a lot of respect for Steven Flowers, BUT... and it's a big BUT, he likes to mix his academic knowledge with his ceremonial magick background. And he does it in a way that suggests it's traditional Norse information. Since he writes with such great confidence and clarity, it strongly sells his theory and practice.

Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed every book I've read of his and recommend them, but they definitely have that "Golden Dawn" angle you shouldn't ignore.
