When we look at folk lore and folk magic, especially of America, we notice the simplicity of their methods. Simplicity does not mean lack of power, nor does it mean the "spell" is not real.
Archaeologists have found witch's bottles in Europe. The same culture with many tales of magic. I think that these ancient people lived their lives full of folk practices without thinking about it. Looking at how these people lived everyday explains why they did not have a long drawn out ritual for something they needed.
Because of the simplicity, most people debase the practices by referring to them as wives tales or superstition. I find it rather insulting. Magic is simple and is available for anyone who wants to practice it.
So yes, I see magic as very "easy." Anyone can do it. However, there are practices that add to the effectiveness of a work/spell. People can cast when they first start out. Focus, understanding the energy one is working with, and knowing "what ever I want, I can have" are just extremely helpful and useful skills/mindsets that will make a working much more effective, whether "shielding" or placing salt and black pepper in the shoes.
More so, the rhetoric that should be used in teaching anything should not be discouraging.
Yes I agree
But the thing is why magick isn't easy because is adding things to like focusing on your intent visualizing Concentration. Ect....
So even though anyone can do it doesn't make it easy or hard
It puts it in the middle of easy and hard
My opinion once again :)
Well I feel it really depends on the person. If your committed to daily practice (yoga and meditation) and have a good understanding of the basics most of the stuff you come across comes easy. If I was to write something and claim that it's easy it would be easy for the individual that practices regularly. I guess that's where my mind is at when I post. Don't get me wrong though I do understand where witchlife is coming from, but everything in this world can't be spoon fed to you.
I completely agree, Witch. Nothing is easy in life, let alone in magick. Magick, in my eyes, is something that requires a lot of patience, time, and willingness to learn. Sadly it seems that a lot of people who have never done anything in the craft, or know anything about it, just rumours, might think it will be a walk in the park. Well, it won't. But there are plenty of people here who know their stuff, and there are plenty of awesome covens.
I disagree. Some spells can be easy, some can be hard, but it depends on the person. I believe the saying 'it's only easy if you know it.' If you don't know what you're doing than obviously there's going to be some challenges, but if you know what your doing then I think its a different story.
Now, spells can be complex, simple, or anywhere in between. Easy, though, is a matter of opinion. And therefore is different from person to person.
No spell is easy, they all requie a form of commitment and work on your part. If you see a spell that even looks easy chances are little to none that it works. As spells are just words, but commitment and work are suppose to be shown on your part. Again as I said, magic(k) is only to help us achieve our goals, not do it all for us.
It goes back to the kind of person you are. If you make a habbit of sticking to one task until its done, then commitment wont pose a real challenge for you. And work doesn't necessarily have to mean its hard. The word work to me just means doing something to accomplish a goal. I also think it depends on if your in the mood for the spell or if you are distracted or how well you can manipulate energies.
Just thoughts. I don't mean to start an argument or anything like that. But I do agree that the word easy shouldn't be thrown around.
