This topic raised while hanging out with friends. One of them said that human's genes are close to 'salamands' lezards or sth. Then since we all know how quick technology is progressing, it is said that everyone has inactive regenerating genes which experts will try to activate. I was surprised by how much of them wanted to be immortal and when i said that i am fine with mortality so as not to disrupt the natural equilibria...i was treated as a fool.
So i wanted to know your points of views and your choices...thanks
I firmly believe that all those born should die. Thats the law of nature.
I think that the human race has grown to much and we need to get the population back to around 1 billion people instead of being 7 billion. I would love to be immortal and I think it would be good if everyone was as long as we had a good world population.
Yes, we should die. If everyone in the world suddenly started to become immortal, nature will become at war with itself. Religion will be dead. There will be chaos in way's we have not yet seen. Although it may sound awesome, we should not mess with the laws of nature. If human's ever become immortal, you'll see what i'm talking about...
I think nature is more than capable of taking care of itself. It was here way before us and will be way after us. As far as mortality I guess the unknown has always been more appealing to me. Everything has its consequences and will come three fold.
Yes, science will soon be able to use "stem cells" to repair damaged bodies. But the real immortality is how the Genes (DNA) keep repeating over the countless centuries. We are the result of our ancestors. If you have children, your own Genes (DNA) will go on, so long as your offspring also have children. That, really, is immortality. The body dies, the Genes live on.
Human life spans are increasing a lot. That means that, if we take care of the environment, one day we may have a generation of humans who live for thousands of years. But I don't think anyone can achieve immortality. Its just impossible
Actually human life spans are starting to decrease. Thousands of years ago people loved for 200 even 300 years. But as the world evolutionized, people started to age even quicker and life spans started to decrease. So living forever is not what we are here for. Living means to die. And messing with life is nothing to be meddled with. And if meddled with, Karma and the three fold rule will come into affect.
I see it like this, just because you may live longer than the norm (if that is even possible) you can still DIE. Nothing is truely immortal, its just a mattter of finding what can kill it.
