"Whats the point of this website,it's seems like joke...Voodoo and Hoodoo is a seriouse religion not something to mock with a tittle like "Diary of a Crow Woman or Hoodoo you love" really? The first half sons like something of a Tyler Perry movie and the other half sounds like terrible pun gone wrong.
And futher more it seems like your to lazy to actually give some lessons yet you type what needs to be done.
I've been practicing Voodoo for 33 years now and I know enough not to write some online where everyone can see something as degrading as this, this religion is not to take lightly and you will get hurt so stop taking it as something to "Brag" about and take it seriouse. "
Recently I had this comment posted up on here, and I wont lie it hurt, It was implying that I dont take Voodoo seriously which I do, I just dont take myself to seriously, yes I have been practicing for a while but mostly its been by myself I have to trust my instincts and the spirits guidance and that is it, I am alone in this. It said I dont teach but tell others what to do, No I have never said anywhere that anyone has to do anything, these are my ideas like them or leave them. I am not here to "brag", I wanted simply to make my thoughts known. If you dont like what I write dont read it, if you think I am wrong kindly tell me why, I dont know everything, in fact in the large scope of the universal knowledge I dont know anything. So if you have been practicing for much longer than I have, and have had the honor of teachers, guidance, Mambos or Hougans, then maybe instead of judging me for what I dont know, realize that I try despite the fact that unlike you, I am alone, and maybe if you have had that honor, try to point me in the right direction with a little more grace and tact, so that I can learn from my mistakes. In the end remember we are all students, remain humble so that we can continue this journey to learning our place in the universe and in Gods plan. Remember that you and I are children of God, and that we might never know our road till we look back on it and see where we have been.

Aw, I'm sorry that someone upset you Mentis. I think someone just has a stick in the wrong place and its getting to them.
First of all Hoodoo isn't a religion, so right there I'd wonder about that statement about "33 years"
Wit and word play are signs of intelligence. Most writers use it to keep their work interesting. I've known deacons and priests who should be comedians, even during homilies in the middle of mass! Being serious about your religion and having a tasteful sense of humor can run hand in hand easily. Having a sense of humor is great. Being able to make people laugh is priceless. Putting a smile on someone's face is a joy in itself, especially if they're having a bad day. It is a powerful and healing gift!
I believe that love and laughter can only happen when one person takes the time to think about what would cause the other person to feel good.
--Yakov Smirnoff
And I don't know why but I always loved this quote.
Laughter is the valve on the pressure cooker of life. Either you laugh and suffer, or you got your beans or brains on the ceiling.
--Wavy Gravy
I think the someone has their beans on the ceiling...

Actually, Hoodoo IS practiced as a religion by many people. The folk magick aspect of it being approached in the same manner as any other religious system.
And, she said she practiced "Voodoo for 33 years".

I'm commenting on the quote "Voodoo and Hoodoo is a serious religion"
Hoodoo as defined by the Merriam Webster Dictionary is
"a body of practices of sympathetic magic"
And a quote from luckymojo.com
"Hoodoo is not the name of a religion nor a denomination of a religion, although it incorporates elements from African and European religions in terms of its core beliefs."
Taken from her nice article at
http://www.luckymojo.com/hoodoohistory.html#hoodoonot
Where you can read more indepthly at the misconceptions of hoodoo and how it is a melting pot of cultural folk magick.
Well I would like to think that my wit has gotten me through many hardships, I would also like to think that my humor has as well, I want everyone to be able to fall in love with their path, to feed their souls and their minds. To grow stronger each day through faith and the ability to have faith in themselves. There is no point in tearing down another.
I am saddened to hear that someone has treated you this way Mentis. The worst part about it is that some people do this either to boost their own ego when they are jealous, or due to poor teachings on how to react to others views and way of life. I know very little about Voodoo and Hoodoo practices and love hearing what information you love to share about them. Hopefully this can be a learning experience for many about how inane it is to berate others way of life.
