Empathy?

Blessed Be! This is a quick question: doesn't everyone feel empathy? It's just a natural part of human feeling. Why is it considered a magickal ability? I'm not turning against other beliefs, it's just a question. ~SullenMoon

While it is true that many have a latent ability of empathy, those with a strong sense of it in order to read energies (feelings and what not) are the ones called empaths

Everyone can sense others' emotions. The difference is how they react to it. It isnt magical at all.

I am an empath. I used to just be able to "feel" the emotions of people. not the ones they wanted you to feel but truly. I was a known as sweet little girl because if it. Know i feel it and presences for the living and dead.

I've said many times, spiritual senses such as empathy, clairvoyancy, clairaudiency, etc are all just as natural as our physical senses, but they go unnoticed by most. They are merely the spiritual counterparts.

Just as our sense of touch is never 100% used and mostly unnoticed (how often do you feel the ground under your feet? Your clothes on your skin?), so too are the spiritual senses regularly ignored. When someone begins to pay attention to these senses (held onto since they were children or regained through awareness brought on by meditation and spiritual studies) these senses reappear and grow stronger as they continue to be deamed important to the individual.

I know but in this day of age things like that are rare. Which is why most people call it a gift. All it really is is a lost reflex.

That's what I mean by most people have the latent ability of empathy. Due to urbanization of the world more people have been relying on the physical world more then the spiritual world which over time those gifts have been hidden from us. It is the few of us who realised these gifts and worked on them that are regaining the power that these gifts have.
