im not sure im in the right forum, but what does it mean to be "gagged" i was reading someone's profile, he said he was "gagged." What exactly does it mean? is it bad? if it is, how would i fix it? and i'll ask more when i know more.
Being gagged is when you cant talk in chat or send mails.. you can see what people send but you cant see what people say in chat. You cant fix it, the only way to "fix" it is to get another acount. Just follow the rules and be nice when sending mail and you wont have to worry.
When you agree to the site rules, the very last rules states:
"I understand that the Moderator's decision is final and if I argue with a warning or other person's gag, I too will be gagged and the gag will not be removed.
Moderators do not gag members at random. If someone was gagged it was because they broke the rules. If you get a warning the moderator is being extremely nice and arguing will just get you gagged."
A gag occurs when you break the rules, so yes, it is bad. Generally though, if you behave it won't occur. However, most gags are not taken away- as the above rule states- so try to avoid them as much as possible. If you get gagged, you can always make a new account. If you need to know more about it, feel free to go contact one of the moderators.
what's going on today? this is the third post i've come across involving getting gagged, some overthrow going on i don't know about?
it's explained in the newbies guide. it get's changed now and then, so you may wanna check it out every so often, but definitely if you're starting out. it was posted above, but basically you get a warning, then you're gagged [or not aloud to contact anyone] for about a week. if it happens a third time you're banned from the site forever. [or until you get a new ip address.] just don't use bad language on the forum, start a fight, elongate words, stuff like that. mail you can get away with a lot more. i believe you can get gagged for harassing a user, but i've been harassed a few times through mail and i'm told to block them, so i don't know if that's a gagging offense anymore. just use common sense, this is a forum site age 13 and up.

It's best not to talk about, or otherwise complain about, a gag. If you bring up the discussion of yourself or another member being gagged there's a good chance you will get gagged for that. If you have a question regarding a gag you should privately talk to a moderator about it- not flair that business in public.
And yes, you can get a gag if you are arguing as well- be it with another member, or with a moderator and their decision on something. Normally you'll only get gagged for arguing with a member if a moderator has asked that you move on from the topic, or the arguing has become very heated.

i'm not starting anything, Animal Farm just popped into my head when i read that line. i don't want to say keep to yourself, but if you do your own thing, ask a question on the forums, or help answer questions, you'll be fine. i've been here long enough to know that.
Of course it's not a democracy. This isn't a nation or a club, this is Petrarca's personal website and he can run it however he wants with whatever rules he wants enforced by whatever mods he wants.
If you don't like it then go somewhere else - who is keeping you here, after all?
