I really want to summon a faerie. I am aware that this could cause a lot of mishaps, but I still want to. Is there any particular spell I should use? Should I describe their appearance and give them a name or should I just accept whichever one comes? If anyone has any advice, please tell me!
Why not leave small offerings arround for them? You could leave some milk and honey out specially for them. Small shiny bells or trinkets as gifts. Make your house welcoming to the fae folk and they will come. No summoning needed.
True. Faeries like offerings and gifts. Some Faeries can be shy or others friendly, you never know!
You just got to be paintcent i know most Faeries take time to trust humans. If you tried and dont succeed try the summoning spell. :)

Okay, so gifts and offerings first, then a summoning spell? How long does it usually take for gifts to work. Also, if I made a faerie circle with flowers, would that attract fairies?
It would vary, Starry. Just have a welcoming home for the fae and they will come one day. I do not really know of a proper way to summon a fairy and somewhat doubt there is. Maybe it is something you should read more and more about?
There is another concept of comunion with Fae folk You'd might like to think about, as described in the following spell:
Spell to Commune with Fairies , Fae dream charm
________________________________________________________________
You will need
some poppy
few cowslip ( Primula veris )
some thyme
Sachet material ( preferably purple)
a small amethyst or Fairy cross crystal or a sodalite
Sachet should preferably be indigo color . Hold it in Your hands and recite :
Tiny brothers and sisters of mine
I call upon Your lovely shine
Be You fare or be You near
In my dreams I welcome You here
And with this charm I hold in hands
Let me meet You in dream lands !
You may anoint the sachet with some rosemary or jasmine If You like . Now place it under Your pillow and go to sleep and Fae will visit Your dream .

And If You want to learn more on dealing with fairies I warmly suggest "Fairy faith in Celtic Countires " a classic and extremely informative text on Fae magick and lore, available online here

I specialize in Faerie work (channeling, readings, ect), specifically I am a Hoodoo Hedgewalker. I've been doing this professionally for 31 years now. I may be able to help you. I am between classes at school right now, so I do not have time to write up a detailed answer right this minute. If I have time tonight after class, I'll come back and write up an better answer for you, if not tonight, than tommorrow.
If you could answer the following questions it would be helpful in what sort of spell I could help you with:
Specifically what type of Fae are you seeking to call up? Any particular race? Light, dark, misty, dusky, ocean, river, forest, mountain, etc.
Where do you live, as in city, country, near the ocean, near a lake...what sort of land is near by? (This will effect the type of Fae you can call on, as different regions have different Fae races)
What sort of magical experiance do you have? Card reading, altar work, Voodoo dolls/Doll babies, pendulums, clouties, mojo bags, jack balls, petition papers, candle work, spirit boards, channeling, hedgewalking, etc. Have you done any of these before, yes, no, which ones, when, why?
Typically when doing Faerie work you are going to want to do it in a swampy, deep old growth forested area, with running water such as a brook near by, esp places thick with moss and mushrooms, for the best results. Faerie work will usually require offerings, clouties, and spirit boards.
I'll write up more detailed info for you and post it soon.
