So i did astral projection the other night... i think? i wrote it down immediatly afterwards so i would not forget and it says here that i did a few calming exercises (i.e. breathing, expanding my third eye, falling into my 'state of mind' i'm not sure what to call it) and then once i fell into that state i saw pulsating lights, my eyes were open because i was blinking very rapidly;my eyes were very dry. I was away from my bed, but i could feel it.. it was like there was a wrapping of fuzzy around my arms and the rest of my body. my head began to feel heavy and i felt strain. i've been told that you aren't supposed to feel strain, but i kept pushing myself and let the lights go by. they were of blue and green and violet and the insides. (it kind of reminded me of tye-dye) and then my cat brushed my foot and i decided to let go and i slowly sank into my body. can anybody at all help me out here? is there something that i'm doing wrong or is this not even a stage of AP? *lost*
You left your body so yes you did Astral Project. Everyone sees the Astral differently. As for the strain, I have felt strain, even pain when I astral project. I do not think strain is uncommon. Some might disagree. Yet to explain what the cause of the strain...well I am not too sure.
My cause of strain is usually if I am attacked and am hit.
The most common cause of strain, stress, discomfort, or pain during astral projection is just overworking your psychic capabilities.. Don't project every day, or else it won't get any better.. You have to give your mind time to rest from the shock of leaving like that, so that you can adapt to the Astral Plane easier.

You're pushing yourself. It shouldn't be forced. Once you're in the right state of mind you should just "think" of being across the room (or where ever you wish to be) and then draw yourself there.
I'm not sure why you had your eyes open. Although I can project with my eyes open, I prefer them closed, and they generally end up closing naturally after a little time anyway. I would not suggest leaving your eyes open when you are new to projecting because it can cause you to be incapable of fully letting go of your physical body and accepting the environment of your astral self. If you do insist on projecting with your eyes open, when you project, you shouldn't be aware of what your physical body see's anymore, like when you "zone out" and daydream, unaware of your surroundings and only conscious of your mind.
It definitely seems that you are very close, now all you need to do is RELAX.
okay, thanks guys! i'm not sure why my eyes were open either... i thought that leaving my body, i would be able to move it like my normal body, i guess? and anybody know what those lights were? i felt like i was watching the aurora lights or something, it was so strange. i will try the visualizing myself across my room. and see if that helps, any other advice?
I also saw blueish aura's while astral projecting or remote viewing mine had like these ruby like eyes but it was like light was shining from them. I followed this entity out of my room and not with my body, with spirit. I was not even trying to project myself it just happened and I was rather uncomfortable as if I was holding my breath. I literally screamed out of it and it seemed as if my body ran to where my spirit was. I felt a sense of I should be passed this part in my head.

The lights happen when you're in the right stage to leave. When I first projected, my mother told me to follow and draw myself in with the lights (which in fact would give the sense of moving up and out of the body). Her exact words were to flow and dance with them (not literally, but with your mind). It really does help you to let go. I don't "dance" with the lights anymore unless I'm using the trance to answer a question and not project.
when the lights first started happening, i tried looking for shapes, but it seemed resistant of me trying to mold it so i just let it happen and watched. how am i supposed to draw myself into the lights?
