Metta Meditation

Hi guys. So i wasnt sure where to post this so i figured i'd just post it here. For those of you wanting this article on metta meditation, here it is.

"Metta" or, "Loving Kindness" meditation will help you come to peace with people you dislike or people who have done you wrong. It will allow you to expirience unconditional love for everyone (Yes, every living being), relieving the "need" or want for black magick. (person who origonaly wanted this was actually asking for a spell to harm another, i recommended this as an alternative.)

1. First... Sit in a comfortable position. One that you can sit in for at least 20 minutes. Then, regulate your breathing. but only at first. Inhale for the count of four, exhale for the count of 6. Do this, and you will notice yourself becomming more relaxed, and able to take deeper breathes. Now, inhale for 4, exhale for 8. Do this for a few breathes, then allow your natural breathe to take over. You will notice that your natural breathe is more rhythmic and deeper.

2. Next, close your eyes, and allow yourself to relax even more deeply. Clear your mind. Any time a though comes through your head, aknowledge it, and let it go. Be passive, do not actively think about anything. If you do, let the thought go, and come back to your breathing, thinking "inhale" on inhales and "exhale" on exhales.

3. Once your mind is cleared, when you exhale, exhale any negative thoughts and emotions. Then, as you inhale, inhale positive thoughts and emotions. Once you have accomplished this, start to breathe into your chest/heart chakra (green). This is the center of love and compassion, and the focus of our meditation today. Feel and experience the energies of your heart chakra as you continue to breath into your chest.

4. Now, feel these energies washing over you. And i mean, really feel these warm, comforting energies filling your being. Do this for a couple of minutes.

5. Then, send these energies out to someone that you care for. someone that you love a lot. Send out these energies for a few minutes as well, as you will do up to step 8.

6. Send these energies out to someone that you feel very neutral towards.

7. Now, send them out to someone that you hate. Someone that has done you harm, or given you reason to dislike them. If you can not open up to this person enough to send out these energies, pick someone that you dislike a little less.

8. Now, send out these energies to the people of you town. Then your country, and then to the whole world.

9. Once you've done this, countinue meditating for a while, still feeling yourself filled with these energies. Do this for as long as you'd like. You should feel as though you have much less, if not no anger bottled up within you. You should be at peace if you have done this correctly. Practice every day, and the energies will get stronger and much easier to experience/send out.

This is a rather interesting meditation. But I personally don't see this meditation being done in a single sitting. That's a lot of energy to be putting out. Even for just your town. And very well may be requiring much more energy than the human body and spirit can possibly handle. I'm not going to say this can't be done, but I will say that this is some thing, I see, to be done in a series of progressive meditations. It may also be beneficial to invoke upon a deity of love and ask for help in such a matter. As well as using such sigils and symbols for energy, such as a (bind)rune for energy.

Side note: "black" magick isn't all about hurting some one. That's stereotypical cliche. "Black" magick can be just as helpful and beneficial as any "white" magick can be.

In essence, sending your "metta" energy out is just another way of saying to "express your love." You don't really send your energy out to these people, that is more of a figure of speach. A way of... describing how to achieve what is t be achieved, so to speak. And what you are looking to achieve is genuinely having unconditional love for everyone. Though, you are actually letting your own energy flow over yourself during this meditation, this is really the only area of the meditation in which you're actually using your energy. And allowing the energy of your heart chakra to flow over you is one of the things that makes it easier for you to be compassionate even about the people we dislike the most. Remember that meditation is more about gaining energy. That is, after all, one of the reasons we meditate.

This is why this can all be done in a single session. and in 20 minutes even. you are really just accepting all the inhabitants of the earth how they are, and expressing unconditional love for them. not really sending your energy to them. Would most likely be impossible to send energy to everyone in the world, or even your whole town. That would also be too much to focus on to be an effective session of meditation. That would make this more of a spell/ritual.

And yes. Even some love spells are considered black magic. But the person who was asking actually was looking to harm another. Which is why this was suggested. This is actually a very simple meditation. Does nnot require much experience. I would even recommend it for beginners.

I still say a deity of love will help even with what you are actually talking about. But finding unconditional love for all people? This I do not see happening in one sitting of a 20 minute meditation. (True) Unconditional love takes time to grow and flourish. It takes being around people to get to know them, accept them for who they are inside and out, and time for love to grow. It can take a whole life time for a person to grow to love a single person out of billions. But there's also different types of love. And some love is from people loosely throwing out the word to describe some thing that's not love. This is why I say it can't just be done to have unconditional love for the whole world populace. And I believe you can't love another person without first truly learning to love your self for who you are. One could learn to love their selves in a meditation like this, but often times it takes more than just a mere 20 minute meditation interval. You also have to take to consideration that there is most likely more than meets the eye going on causing the person to have lack of self love and lack of love for others. And these are circumstances that can take years to a lifetime to correct, if it can be corrected. Also there's the matter of if the person truly wants to have love of self and others or not. The mind and mouth can say yes all daily long, but the heart and soul may say no. This holds a problem that will hinders the progress tremendously. More reasons it can't be done in 20 minutes of meditating. Though I give brownie points for the meditation option and effort to figure this out.

White, black, grey, pink, or what ever label you wish to put on it, magick is magick. Any and all magicks can be harmful to your self and/or other people. It does not matter what the intent, there's potential danger either way.

This was only a suggestion to someone who had basically (in my opinion) cried out for help. I didn't say that you would achieve the optimum results from the first session. this must be done over time, but you can, in fact, quickly in fact, accept, and have unconditional love for everyone, especially through the practice of this meditation. You begin to realize that having anger bottled up within is like holding a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at another. You are the one who, in the end, gets burnt. You don't need to think on it. The love just is. I've had people who have very recently disrupted the natural flow of my life, and made me hate them briefly. Through the practice of this meditation, over the course of a few days, i no longer hate or even dislike these people. I have forgotten what they've done to me and accepted them. I now have no negative emotions toward these people. What they had done was the most terrible betrayal, as they were good friends of mine. So, if you can imagine, my emotions toward them were nothing short of violent. And now, if i bumped into them somewhere, i would no longer want to hit them, but hug them, though it sounds very syrupy. it is stupid to keep anger within you. And until you've released yours, you can't and won't understand how easy it truly is to genuinely love and accept everyone.

And again, i'd like to remind you that you will not get the most potent desired affect from just one session. This needs to be done over a period of time. Just one session, will, yes, relieve a lot of anger and issues. But you need many more than one full session (which is at LEAST 20 mins, no less) to get the full effect of this form of meditation
