Tope74, I substitute all the time based on properties & intuition. It's always worked out great!

Just as a warning to anyone using this list, I'm pretty sure acorns are poisonous to humans so don't try and eat one. I know most of us here have common sense, but I don't want some dumb kid that found this site to start eating acorns because they wanted to get stronger.

As long as the acorns are fully cooked, and there are no holes, they are safe to eat.
