You'll get differing answers.

In my opinion, witchcraft (The practice of magic) is about learning learning about yourself and the world around you on a deep level. You learn to manipulate things to bring forth the desired effect, which is a creative art. Witchcraft is connecting with everything, while being a seperate and unique being.

Witchcraft is the use of objects and energy to benefit ones life. Through the castings a person does they connect to the universe and can influence not only their own life but the lives of all others. This can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on the situation. There is no "right" way to use witchcraft. As above so below. Do as thou will shall be the whole of the law. Be careful with the use of the craft for some it is too much to handle.

I do it to learn about myself but I also do it to learn the truth about the world around me. No matter how much or what you learn it is always put to the test by good old fashoned common sense and intellagence. Just because we don't acknowledge something doesnt mean it doesn't exist. And just because we can learn something doesn't always mean we should. But if we allow ourselves to be bogged down in things just because someone else says it's proper and true then we become a slave to someone elses thinking. I for one would rather be a free thinker and come up with my own ideas and use my mind for the good of the world.

Magick can be used for many different things, including self-knowledge and enlightenment like said above, but essentially what it is probability enhancement (not my words, but a good definition in my opinion)

long answer if you're asking about witchcraft or magic. the paths are very personal, and if something doesn't feel right to a person, they can alter it so it does. like rituals, some people use old English, others feel uncomfortable and use modern. some feel you should wear robes in the circle only, while other feel you should wear them every day [see Laurie Cabot]

witchcraft is the study of magic. while Embrace makes an excellent point, i feel that would make more sense for a 'witch' and not 'witchcraft' witch is the person, witchcraft is the application imo. as a witch you need to study about everything [history, plants, cooking, exercise, spell craft] then apply it in your daily life, be it through magic or not, and it can then be called witchcraft.

magic is energy. easiest way to describe it, you're drawing in the energy found all around us, focusing it on a single task [healing for instance] then releasing any that is left over to be recycled and used once again.

It's a way of life that is very spiritual in nature. But instead of the well-known Christian perspective that only priests have the right to be in touch with the source of life (be it whatever deity or power you believe in), work with higher beings, heal, or bring forth results through ritual, we believe it is a gift we are all capable of to one extent or another depending on our dedication and personal development.
