Basic Solitary Sabbat

This is from Solitary Witch by Silver Ravenwolf nothing is changed or left out [things in brackets i added]

Supplies- alter and setup (earth, air, fire, water, illuminator candles). tools such as the athame [ritual dagger] or wand are up to you. candles or other representations positioned at the four quarters (north south east west) - colors are your choice. additional supplies will depend on the amount of time you have nad how creative you wish to make your ceremony. [step 12 for communion later refers to blessed cakes and juice though for this rite i recommend cornbread and ale, cider or pumpkin juice]

Step one: sweep area with a broom. Cleanse the ritual space by carrying a representation of the four elements around the area in a clockwise movement, working with one element at a time. Place any object of the seasonal honor on the altar, along with communion vessels and your book of shadows.

Step two: Open altar energies by passing the four elements over the altar energies by passing the four elements over the altar and intoning a personal blessing, then tap the altar five times- once for each element, and once for Spirit.

Step Tree: Light the illuminator candles on the altar

Step four: Cast the magick circle (clockwise) using the following sabbat circlecasting or one of your choice.

"Tides of the season, ebb and flow"
(Tap the altar once, stating the name of the holiday energy to be invoked [mabon in this case] )
"from spring's first light to autumn's glow"
(hold your hands over the altar)
"Deosil around from birth to death "
(Begin at the north and start to walk clockwise around the circle)
"Legends, myths and lore connect"
(You should be back at the north)
"Solar fire, sun's bright burning"
(Lift the red fire candle on the altar and look skyward)
"Purify the Great Wheel turning."
(return the candle to the altar)
"Winds of north to carry the flame"
(Begin walking from the north to the east)
"The mists of eons, call the name."
(say the name of the holiday aloud [mabon] )
"East and south, the west inspire"
(pause the wording at each direction as you continue around the circle)
"Energy spirals ever higher!"
(return to the north)
"The circle rises and marks rebirth"
(begin the third pass around the circle)
"As seasons change and kiss the earth."
(return to the north)
"From seed and plough to harvest home"
(hold your hands over the altar)
"To starry vault and standing stone"
(at the north, point upward)
"This circle thrice around"
(visualize the complete circle)
"I seal the now from sky to ground!"
(Bring your arm down and stamp your foot)

Step five: light the quarter candles and call the quarters

"Winds of the mabon north, attend acknowledge and proclaim!
Winds of the mabon east, attend acknowledge and proclaim!
Winds of the mabon south, attend acknowledge and proclaim!
Winds of the mabon west, attend acknowledge and proclaim!
Winds of the mabon spirit, fill this circle with thy love and protection."

Step six: Read the charge of the goddess.

"Listen to the words of the great mother who was old, called amongst men, Artemis, Astarte, Dione, Melusine, Aphrodite, Cerridwen, Diana, Arionhod, Bride, and by many other names."
"At mine Altar, the youths of Lacedemon in Sparta made due sacrifice. Whenever ye have need of anything, once in the month and better int be when the moon is full, then shall ye assemble in some secret place and adore the Spirit of Me, who am Queen of all the Witcheries. There shall ye assemble, who are feign to learn all sorceries who have not as yet won my deepest secrets. To these will I teach that which is as yet unknown. And ye shall be free from all slavery and as a sign that ye be really free, ye shall sing, feast, and make music, all in my presence. For mine is the ecstasy of the spirit and mine is also joy on earth. For my Law is love unto all beings. Keep pure your highest ideals, strive ever towards them. Let none stop you or turn you aside. For mine is the secret that opens upon the door of youth and mine is the cup of the wine of life and cauldron of Cerridwen, which is the Holy Grail of immortality. I am the Gracious Goddess who gives the gift of joy unto the heart of man upon earth. I give the knowledge of the Spirit Eternal and beyond death I give peae and freedom and reunion with those that have gone before. Nor do i demand aught or sacrifice, for behold I am the mother of all things and my love is poured out upon the earth."

Step seven: Invoke your ancestors by reading their names and declaring your honor for them. [if you dont know their names just use 'my ancestors']

Step eight: Read the sabbat invocations given under the individual sabbats in this section.

[mabon invocation listed here for simplicity]
Mabon invocation
"mabon brings the scent of autumn
golden glow and sun's soft kiss
magick swirls and eddies onward
seasons end demands all this

the wheel is turning ever forward
calling for your act of closure
fill the cauldron light the fire
cast the magick ever higher
find the laughter make ye merry
touch the heartbeat of our mother

libra brings an air of beauty
gracing all with harvest lore
listen closely wisdoms duty
look withn to find the door

the wheel is turning ever forward
calling for your act of closure
fill the cauldron light the fire
cast the magick ever higher
find the laughter make ye merry
touch the heartbeat of our mother

the fruits are heavy on the trees
yellow gold and orange leaves
natures show of alchemy
ever clear to you and me

the wheel is turning ever forward
calling for your act of closure
fill the cauldron light the fire
cast the magick ever higher
find the laughter make ye merry
touch the heartbeat of our mother"

Step Nine: State intent of the ritual aloud, along with your personal understand of the holiday you are celebrating. This can be through poetry, a story or even through meditation, and adds your own individual creativity to the ritual.

Step ten: Draw down the sun (optional) However do not stare directly into the sun. Lift your head with eyes closed.

Step Eleven: Perform any magickal work. [may include healing circles, training classes, esbats and spellwork] [also includes acts of honor- wiccanings (baptism) handfasting (marriage) crossings (funerals) initiations, dedications and elevations within one's group (ie from member to priest or priestess)

Step twelve: Take communion

Step thirteen: perform the offering to the gods. This is the sabbat fire offering
"Upon the wings of fiery flame
I give this offering in Goddess' name.
(pour offering into fire) [if sacrificial fire is unavailable i recommend lighting a stick of incense]

Step fourteen: Thank deity

Step fifteen: Thank and release the quarters, extinguish quarter candles at the release of each quarter - remember to begin in the west if you started in the north, moving widdershins (counterclockwise)
"Winds of the Spirit of Mabon blessings upon you! I release thee upon thy way till next we meet again! Winds of the Mabon West blessings upon you! I release thee upon thy way till next we meet again! Winds of the Mabon South blessings upon you! I release thee upon thy way till next we meet again! Winds of the Mabon East blessings upon you! I release thee upon thy way till next we meet again! Winds of the Mabon North blessings upon you! I release thee upon thy way till next we meet again!"

Step sixteen: Release magick circle (counterclockwise)
"O Great Circle of Sabbat Art, attend me no more this day but be released into -(most likely into the objects made in the spellworking if they were designed to draw things to you. If you have no items and you do not wish to put the energy into wand rod staff or athame, then simply say "released back into the spirit"

Step seventeen: Seal altar energies by tapping once on the altar and extinguishing illuminator candles.

Step eighteen: Clean up and offer libation bowl out-of-doors.

Its Mabon. This is one of the major Wiccan Holidays. All holidays will fall within a set range of days depending on the calendar. But for simplicity I recommend you celebrate them on the following.

Yule- Small potted tree, color is red and green- celebrated on December 21st and is the wiccan holiday of winter. Consists of the burning of the Yule log. Symbolizes the birth of the Sun.

Imbolc- The colors are green white and blue- Evergreens- also known as Candlemas- This is basically the Wiccan new years celebration. It's celebrated on the 2nd of February. It represents New growth, end of winter, rituals of purification, candle rituals are especially powerful here.

Ostara- Color is white- A potted plant- Popularly known as Wiccan 'easter' rituals focus on fertility offerings to the goddess of spring. The easter egg hunt is done on this, the 21st of March

Beltaine or May Day- May 1st- Said to be the oldest of holidays this is the Wiccan Fire Festival. A joyous holiday involving dancing around a May Pole and walking around a bonfire. Protection of animals and gardens is done on this day.

Litha- June 21st - White- Mugwort is the flower- This is the wiccan holiday of love, marriage and great magical power.

Lammas or Lughnasadh (pronounced loo nas sa)- August 1st- Colors are red and orange- Lughnasadh is known as a harvest festival (one of three). This is the bread harvest; sports, blessings and weather magick are done on this day. Good day to go camping.

Mabon - 21st of september- The colors are red and brown- second harvest concentrating on fruits and veggies, especially corn. Fashion a corn dolly or do your talisman, amulet spells during this holiday. This can also be done on Lughnasadh.

Samhain- colors are red or black- a personal favorite for most wiccans and is celebrated on October 31st. Officially the last harvest ritual. Focusing on honoring the dead, divination, preparing for the winter and personal transformation.

Sabbat rituals are our way of celebrating our holidays. Simply that. A feast almost always follows. They take a while so make sure you have time set aside. I recommend that you get all that you have on every ritual from every book you can get your hands on. Take it all and write in your Book of Shadows your own ritual.
