this is my first forum, so feedback on how well I did would be much appreciated!
there are five brainwaves on which your brain operates on, measured in hz, or cycles per second, learning to utilize these brain waves can speed your progress and help you tremendously! here are those five brainwaves, from least active to most active:
Delta: (0-4hz) this is where dreamless sleep occurs, your brain is resting, i doubt you can utilize this state, but i encourage you to try, for if you dont try youre guaranteed to get nowhere, and vice versa ;)
Theta:(4-7hz) this is the state you sleep in, and this is the most powerful state in my opinion, because it links your concious with your subconcious mind! astral projection, shamanic journeys, many psychic visions, and many other wonderful things happen in this state. Im trying to utilize full theta state by making a dream lucid, then astral projecting, if you have any tips mail me!
Alpha:(8-12hz) every night you pass through alpha right before you sleep. it is the bridge between your concious and subconcious. meditation energy working, many spell castings and the like are done here.
Beta:(12-20) your average, alert waking,mind.
Gamma:(21-60) you ever had a,major fight or flight moment and everything seems so slow, like you have all the time in the world to react? this is gamma, where your brain kicks into overdrive. this is the highest conciousness, and since ir is just recently discovered, I cant relay what it does, but you can imagineit is,probably the most powerful! I find energy work to be the most effective in this state.
so if meditation occurs in alpha, and astral projection occurs in theta, then if you can get your brain into alpha, it should help with meditation, right? you bet! I used to think meditation was hard, boring, and a waste of my time, but now Its easy, productive, and because of the endprphins it releases, fun and pleasurable! because I discovered a little somethin somethin on youtube called brainwave entrainment through binaural beats and isochronic pules. you put two headphones in, listen to it, and itll put u in alpha state, theta, whatever u want! and I tell you its like a miracle breakthrough, I can actually confidently say isochronic pulses single handedly pulled me out of four years of being a fluff! xD I strongly encourage you, especially if u despise meditating, to just one time, lay down listen to the isochronic tones I provide in the alpha link, and just lay there, count every breath from one to a hundred, and I guarantee youll do it over, and over again!

beta: couldnt find one sorry! youre almost always in beta when youre awake though! if u really need it search youtube.com for beta isochronic pulses, I hope you have better, luck!
That's a very nice post Pyroe, and something we don't see quite often here. Learning how to work with your brainwaves can help you alter your state of consciousness which is necessary when you meditate , lucid dream or /and astral project. I have been using these frequences ( Binaura Beats) for quite a while with great success. They truly do wonders. They're very helpful especially if you have trouble relaxing, but of course even if you're working with them and you're resisting, you won't have much success. In meditation and astral projection you have to let go. Something I like to do is light some incense to create a "relaxing/ magical atmosphere" as I like to call it. That's a trick for your brain to show that what you're about to do is something different. There are plenty of guided meditations which also utilize binaural beats and they're wonderful ,too.
I have always been familiar with lucid dreaming and when I was little, I thought everyone could do it. I didn't know there was a term for it. It's something which can be very useful especially for those who have nightmares quite often. For a while though, I just couldn't lucid dream. I would remember my dreams perfectly , I would write them all down - That's something I always do and I have learned so many things about my self or rather the deeper side of myself- but I couldn't or wouldn't have lucid dreams. Then I ran into some videos on Youtube with binaural beats, so I thought I'd try them out. Like an hour after that, I went to bed to take a nap and I had a lucid dream that very day ,again! Now , I get lucid dreams every so often but mostly, something will happen in my dream, I'll suddenly realize it's a dream, and I'll wake up at will. Mostly , this happens when I see something is not going on as it's supposed to, or I'm in danger ( when I'm having a nightmare). I do not really practice lucid dreaming anymore, it just happens every so often but like I said, I could have lucid dreams from a very young age.
In conclusion, binaural beats can really help a lot but you're not going to have much success if you don't make an effort for it. I recommend binaural beats to all those who have trouble relaxing or altering their state of consciousness -and- those who don't have much patience. However stuff like meditation and astral projection, requires a lot of patience, and practice. Again, very informative post.
I agree with you harris, one of the "secrets" of witchcraft is learning how to alter your conciousness, to access the subconcious mind where all magick is done. I just wish new witches knew that, thats why I posted it here.
And I've done a lot of research on lucid dreaming, and today I am actually taking a formal approach, I just bought a dream log, and I think I can dream lucidly very soon, my goal is within a month. I will try isochronic pulses, and harris, did you know the isochronic pulses are more powerful?
The reason I want to dream lucidly is becasue in this lucid state, astral projection is very easily done, and you have full access to your subconcious. If you do witchcraft in this lucid state, I Think you could do some very powerful magick here!
Once you get lucid in your dream, it's too easy to astral project and have full control over it. Actually it's the fastest and easiest way to do this if you ask me. Usually it takes people who have never had any lucid dreams at least at will, up to 2 to 3 weeks. You must commit yourself to it, and in all honesty it's not something hard to do. Actually many of us do it, but we don't remember all our dreams thus we don't remember we've had lucid dreams in the past. The first step would be to learn how to remember your dreams. If you have lucid dreams and you can't remember them and write them down , it's pointless if you ask me. The moment we go to bed, our brain knows that we're about to sleep; our brain at this state is very... "vulnerable" if that makes sense or rather I'll word this differently, at this point our brain is very obedient. The moment you go to bed, repeat something to yourself , many times, again and again and again until you fall asleep. Eventually the phrases you just used will sink in the subconscious real quick, and that's the trick here! Do not repeat "I want to lucid dream" over and over because this is like saying " I want to be an actor". You need to be more practical , or rather more specific. People use signs , which can alert them while they're dreaming ,and make them realize that they're dreaming, and then the fun begins.
Once you get there and you manage to lucid dream, after a while you won't have to go through the entire process. It will just happen. I'll give you an example, several times a day look at your hands and ask yourself " Am I dreaming?". Find a way to prove that you're awake. Yes I know, I know, it might sound a little silly but trust me it works! Do this several times a day. Things we do , when we're awake, we usually do them when we're dreaming also. Do this for at least 1- 2 weeks. In addition to that, use a sign, like when you go to bed, repeat to yourself: " When I see a vase ( random example) , I'll instantly know I'm dreaming" , or better yet" When I look at my hands, I'll instantly know I'm lucid dreaming". Repeat this over and over again. When you wake up, have a notebook close to you and a pen. Grab the pen and write down all the dreams you've had, one by one. Don't think about anything else at that time! Think only about your dreams, and you will remember most of them. You can remember even small details? Don't ignore them, write them down ,too. You can do a lot of things at that state. Observe everything fully; although you have control over it, your dreams will still have their own scenario. Write everything down and see if you can find common patterns. Your dreams can show a lot about yourself, or rather the deepest side of yourself...things we tend to ignore, or we're not even aware of...
When ever I dream, the places I see are places I wind up going in a few days. It is also rather weird how, when in trouble (fight, etc), I can avoid every hit or blow. I also can move things, not very far, but I can move items.
