hey everyone i am thinking about converting to wicca. i have read alot about it and i am sure its the path i want to take.
I know wicca is right for me. However i am not 100% sure how to fully become a wiccan. if anyone can guide me id be greatly apreciative. Also if anyone would like to be my mentor id like that. mail me any information you think i need at this point. Thank you.
Most people on here are solitary Wiccans anyways. You don't have to be initiated into a lineaged coven to 'convert to Wicca'. Just start reading about the God and Goddess, Gerald Gardner, Alex Sanders, Druidry, Folk magic, celtic lore, etc. Soon you'll find yourself doing rituals and making your altar. You walk a path by taking the first step!

while i'm in an offline coven, we all did a solitary initiation since we find it a personal thing. while you could do a huge ceremony, the easiest one is to speak from the heart. get an offering [i had juice and a cupcake for mine lol] and that's really all you need. if you have incense, candles, and tools, use them, but they're not needed. i had an incense burner and some candles, my athame and my book of shadows, but that's it.
first you should have a purifying bath [add sea salt to your bath] just to cleanse yourself of negative energy. don't have a bath with soap and water, just soak for a few moments and feel the water, visualize it washing away all negativity. once you're done with the bath, go to wherever you're preforming the self dedication and cast the circle. mediate for a bit if you wish, then call upon the Lord and Lady, state who you are and why you wish to become Wiccan. once you feel done, offer the cake and ale [take a bit for yourself] then sit quietly and see if you feel an answer. thank them, and open the circle placing the offerings outside.
basically that's all you have to do. if you want something more ceremonial there's plenty to choose from.
You make the choice to convert, and I made it a year ago after researching and wondering for 2 years, you can always do a self dedication ritual to the patron god/goddess you choose. :) BB )o(
The first step to anything is dedicating yourself to it
That applies to both your spirituality and your everyday life because if you want to truly learn then that takes a long while (In the case of Wicca it is a year and a day)
I'd follow what Nekoshema said for now and if you choose to complete your year and a day then do something a little bigger at the end if you so choose
I personally studied for about a year and am actually doing a self dedication ritual during the next new moon. Basically I'm anointing my whole body with blessing oil. (I'm using dragons blood)

I would not make any unbreakable committments until you have spent a year and a day studying and practicing Wicca to be sure that it is a spiritual fit for you. Sometimes we start out thinking we will find our home in Wicca and then find another path that calls more strongly to us.
If you check some of my posts at the top of the Wiccan forum you'll find some recommendations on good resources to read and study, and also some information on other Wiccan topics. I do not believe that Wicca can be properly taught except in a face-to-face setting for teacher and student; however, I'd be happy to try to answer any specific questions you might have.
