If my friends don't belive in magic, can that affect my spell casting?

No. Your belief and intent are all that matter in magic. If your friend doesn't believe that would only affect them not you. If you've studied mediation, visualization, etc and believe in yourself and focus strongly enough on the outcome you want(as long as it doesn't deify the laws of nature) your spell should work.
