Nope. If it were you would see the skies filled with magic users and flying objects.

In addition, were gravity to stop completely we'd all be hurled off this planet we stand on. Not something one would want.

I think it's possible, just far too difficult to use practically. Simply lifting something mundanely would be much more efficient. Telekinesis must be at least as draining as physical effort, and much harder to learn.
