Sweetgrass, sage, etc..

Nobody ever told me these things set off smoke alarms. My grandpa is gonna kill me, he hates it enough when I burn incense...
I think I'm gonna just go with the sage spray from now on...

Hmmmm, how much were you burning at once?? I used sage to do a house blessing for a friend, and it gave off alot of smoke. I used it all through the house, but I only used a bunch that was about palm size at a time.

I use more sweetgrass than sage. I have large sage wands and I use them very sparingly since i dont like the scent, I have used it probably 10+ times and I still havent gotten to the first tied off bit with string.

I probably burn like.. a quarter to a half inch of a sweetgrass braid at once. it was giving off a lot of smoke though.

Yea, the sage is very overwhelming. The kids complained the whole time! I told them it wouldn't be as bad if they weren't following me around the house!!!

I have never tried sweetgrass.

May I suggest that when you burn the sage bundles/smudge wands that you untie them and only use a small amount of the sage. This will reduce the smoke. Also the sage bundles have been known to continue to burn inside, when you think they are out.

I have used both of these herbs and have a funny story that I would share with either you DG or you Turtlegirl in a PM. Not really for the open forums as it is also somewhat personal.
