Getting High to do Magic

Hello! So I realize this may be a strange topic, but I thinking the other day about how your brain works differently while you are "high" or "tripping" or whatever. So my question is (this is completely hypothetical), when you are "high," does it help you to open your mind up to the energies around you and even enable you to work better with these energies? Side note: when I am drunk or tipsy, I find it easier to speak with spirits (I'm a medium) so I'm curious as to why this is. Thanks!

Yes and no. When you are under the influence of a drug and get in touch with your spiritual senses whilst being influenced, what happens when you are not under the influence?

What you have done is created a dependance on the drug to allow you to have a spiritual experience with your environment, which is something I strongly discourage. If you want to truly have a spiritual experience, then do so without the influence of a drug.

This is not to say that there is not a time for 'prophetic dreams' as brought on by hallucinogenic drugs, as are used in some shamanic practices (and I mean some because it is not something practiced often by 'real' shamans), but it is strongly discouraged anyways. Your body creates these chemicals on it's own when the time comes, and they are needed, therefore there is no need to put the chemicals in your body from an external source.

I don't believe in getting "High" or "tripping" to get into your spiritual state is a great way to achieve that process, just because you guys don't want to have patients and do it the hard way. If you want to really get in tuned with your spiritual side, meditation could be something to look into. I do not know how many ways the other religions have to intune with their souls but that is what I have seen a lot of.

Yes it is easy and that reminds me of my friend, he used to tell us he can see spirits and talk with them when he is drunk...well none of us believed him, we were 17!

And one day he just drank a lot and said he will go home all by himself and next day we hear he jumped from his building!

As to why it is? -

Any time you are sad, depressed,feeling low or just want to escape your realities for a while, you invite spirits to talk to you.

You just reach that 'vibrational state' that spirits can communicate and contact easily. Especially the sad ones, they start coming to you because they 'feel' you are in same state as they are.
Everytime you do something that does NOT involve a lot of brain work, you are closer to nature and yourself and spirits and everything.


And as much as I know about drinking or getting high... it is mainly to chill and to stop thinking about problems for a while.

This is a debate that has been going on for years. Some agree to substance use and some do not. I think it clouds your mind and toxifies the body. This makes magic more difficult as any blockage would impede on your working.

I personally believe that the best high one can achieve is through spiritual experiences. Drugs cannot duplicate that for me.

If I remember correctly ,Alister Crowley has some experience with this subject. Also He dabbled in sex with magic too.I think he has some books on the subject too.

Thanks, everyone! And while I don't condone drug use in any way, I was just curious as to what the rest of you thought. Also, I have never encountered a spirit when I was drunk that wasn't helpful in some way. I haven't attracted any "sad" ghosts, so that's probably a good thing! Haha :)
