I want to be a witch, but I want to know as much about being a witch and Wicca as possible. Any knowledge you have to offer would be very helpful. Thanks.

Being a witch and being Wiccan are two different things. One can be a witch and not be Wiccan. One can be Wiccan and not be a witch.

Wicca is a religion that believes in the God and Goddess and honors nature. Those who are Wiccan may or may not use magic.

A witch is one who practices magick. They can be of any religion or none at all.

As Nicheren said, there is a difference between Wicca and Witchcraft. So in order to help you it would be useful to understand which you are truly interested in.

Witchcraft is a form of magical practice. It can be practiced without any involvement with religion at all. There are some Witches who approach it as part of a Pagan religion, but there are also Witches who are of any religion or even of none at all.

Wicca is a very particular, modern religion with very specific beliefs and practices. One of those practices (and I will disagree with Nicheren here) is using magic as part of its belief system. While it is true that not all Wiccans engage in spellcraft or do it very rarely, every Wiccan uses magic when they cast a circle, consecrate their tools, charge an item, etc. So in my opinion if you aren't doing magic at all, if you aren't therefore doing witchcraft, what you are doing is not Wicca.

That being said, if it's Wicca you're interested in I would be happy to try to help. I don't teach on-line, but I would be happy to answer specific questions or to poin you towards good resources. You might want to start with the Wicca Basics thread in this Forum. You can find it at http://www.spellsofmagic.com/read_post.html?post=580909
