I've read somewhere some time ago about using blood - particularly menstrual blood - in rune craft. I understand that it makes the craft more "powerful" as it connects your life source to it, but how exactly? I guess I pretty much just answered my own question, but I want to hear others' opinions on the matter.
Some beleive its a sort of offering to help the magick but i beleive because it belongs to you its like sealing a deal your magick is connected to you and flows through your veins and well that pretty much explans itself
Runes are generally colored with regular blood, not menstrual blood. I've found that spirits/goddesses of fertility and children/motherhood really like it when menstrual blood is used. Menstrual blood is also commonly used in love spells. Menstrual blood is a feminine fluid solely, just as sperm is a masculine fluid solely. So they are gender associative. Blood from our veins however is connected to life in general therefore it is more strongly connected to who we are, not what we are. It is vital to us. We can survive without a uterus and when we reach menopause, it stops producing blood altogether. So it isn't "necessary" or "vital" but more of a badge of sexuality.
Using blood from any source binds the life force of that person or thing to your spell or ritual... Its NOT nonsence but then again it shouldnt be used by novices as well.. Also note thag blood magick is much harder to undo.. So plan ahead before you use it.. Blessed be.
Brysing I respect your opinion on the matter however I must disagree with you. I'll say that personally I do not believe people should use this type of magick regularly, for obvious purposes and I will say that in a way talking about blood magick could encourage some of the younger individuals to get involved in something potentially stupid. So long as the individual realizes the risks they themselves are putting themselves into and have the ability to be responsible enough to not harm themselves, then I see no reason why we should not speak of the subject, added that ignorance is the latter option.
Although I cannot say anything on the topic of menstrual blood, nothing I could learn in that department, I will say that using blood is a rather primal and pure source of energy and quite powerful might I add. But it requires mature individuals with a knowledge of exactly what they are doing and the know how to not, for example, give themselves tetanus or slice a vital artery. This is a delicate topic of which care must be taken.
Thanks everyone for your replies :)
I want to add that I never mentioned anything about cutting the body to extract blood as there are other ways to safely do this i.e asking for a vile of your own blood while having blood drawn.
I bit off topic from the OP but if you need to draw blood for magick I would never recommend a knife. A blood lancet, often used for blood suger testing, can be used without much risk. It doesnt draw to much blood nor leave much of a open wound. Quantity isnt really important in blood magick so the drop it produces is more then enough.
