Morality and Ethics

So I've noticed in here that the majority of people seem curious about How to do a spell, What to do the spell with, Why to use the spell but I have yet to really see anyone ask the very important SHOULD. Should you do the spell you're asking questions about? Should you even be looking to intervene magically at all? I realize that today the human race as a whole doesn't pay mind to problems of a Ethics or Morality yet we must do so in order to retain our humanity. Especially we who can have such a profound impact on people's lives. When considering a spell you must ask yourself "is this right?" Should you be interfering in the lives of others? Some say "yes!" Easily but do they stop to consider the effects after the immediate result? Most often I see people wanting to cast spells to induce love. An over romanticized fantasy to say the least but they swear it's for the best! How can you take it upon yourself to decide this? Think of the people and lives you'll hurt not only the intended target but what of their friends and family? What of their love ones? What of yours? Your mother hates the bloke now she's in an untenable situation because of your careless spell casting. We cannot simply flail around blindly anymore than a marine can with his gun. All people must remember to be Morally and Ethicly responsible with their abilities. Agree or no?

A bater question, who cares (no offense), while I agree that love spells are just wrong, but its not because people are being morally wrong, its because they are just fooling themselves calling it love, but if they are ready to use a spell for something they are willing to do the same withoat magic, and I say that people just shouldn't use any too nasty spells, moralls arent really the modern persons "thing", if you gow by that logic that you employ than trying to help a dying person with magic is morally wrong because you haven't asked it to them, with or withoat magic the same could be said for doctors, what's really important is not crossing your morall lines, cause magic or no you wont have a problem going by them, but if you cross them there is no going back

Simple answer. If you dont know then do a divination first. This can be a good idea anyway to strengthen your intent.

In regards to your dying patient example I would argue that all humans have free will and as such all patients are allowed rodent treatment. ANy doctor that goes against a patients wishes would be acting immorally and unethically as they would be violating their patients personal beliefs. Same with magic if you don't have the persons permission or don't even ask the person you shouldn't do anything. Compromising someone else's beliefs or desires is never the right answer no matter the justification. Again just because you CAN do do eying doesn't mean you SHOULD.

I forgot also you're correct if a person I willing to go to extreme lengths they will with or without magic. But just cause they're willing doesn't mean they're morally or ethically right.

At the same time a person acting reckless and endangering others, My personnal belief is it would be unethical not to do some form of protective spellwork or blessings to ward the victims from harm due to reckless behavior. I am of the opinion that we wielders of magic have a moral obligation to make the world better and safer, especially for the youngest and oldest humans and defenseless wildlife as well as natural resources.

I can understand that.... And so could Hitler After all he was protecting us proper white people from dangerous people. And as a man in a position of power was he not morally required to act for our protection? My point here is we may all feel that it's out duty and what we are doing is the best but how can we know for sure? How can we know whether we are Hitler or mother Theresa?

Common sense would dictate we are neither one. I am not talking about genocide or sainthood. I am talking about putting a blessing or protective spell around a neighborhood where violent crimes against children or elderly are taking place. Would you not agree that is the moral & ethical way to help your neighbors who can not help themselves? I am not suggesting vigilante action or tampering with free will.

Though if you know for a fact who it is who is violently hurting children or elderly I completely condone vigilante justice as unethical as it is I consider it a neccasary evil where law enforcement fails.
