preparations for Reiki?

I'm about to take first degree Reiki. I heard there is different preparations before you take this class. Like fasting & but I want to know your meditation of course. If anyone has taken Reiki classes before what preparations did you do before the class? I'm kinda nervous, will I come out a changed person for the good? There are just too many questions for me to ask on here. What was your experiences like?
