Ouija boards/Talking noards aren't as dangerous as any other methods of contacting spirits, it's in the way you use it. It is simply a tool, and does nothing until you touch or pick it up. You just have to know what you're doing, cast the right protections, ask the right questions, avoid asking for proof or the spirit to come out in any possible way, and you should be fine. Be sure that you cleanse the room that you will be working in before hand, keep your mind on the task at hand, and never use it alone. It's safer to have one or two other people with you. Call upon your personal deity(s) for protection if necessary. Remember, some spirits lie, so double check, and be skeptical.
If you would like a protective prayer to use before your ouiji board session, then I would suggest using this one. (I didn't write this prayer, but I do use it in every ouiji session.) :
[God/Goddess' Name] , I invite you to our space to watch over our ouija board session and keep us safe throughout. Give us comfort in your presence and the knowledge that we are watched over. Give us the wisdom to discern the spirits from tricks of our minds. And give us the strength to banish if we need to. We ask for protection, clarity of mind, and comfort.
All ways of contacting spirits do have both their negative and positive attributes. I'm just explaining to those who think that ouiji boards are dangerous, that they're not harmful if they know how to properly use one, and of course what questions you should ask and what questions you shouldn't. ^^

Many years ago,I attended quite a few "sessions" with a Ouija board. And every single time the planchette. or curser, was moved by somebody's finger. I was not impressed. Now, if all the persons around the board were holding hands, and the curser moved by itself,THEN I would have been impressed.
The board is just a game.
It was originally made to be a game when the occult started gaining popularity in the media, that is true. When I myself did my ouiji sessions, the cursor moved, and it wasn't me pushing it. It felt as if someone was holding my hand and moving it themselves. Then again, this just could've been a trick of my mind or an unconsious suggestion for me to move my hand from just a single thought in my mind. I myself am still skeptical when it comes to using ouiji boards, but to me, when I did use It, the feelings and sensations I could feel felt genuine. I guess it could just be tricks of my mind, but for those who do believe in using them, I just thought I would provide them with some information that would help so that could have safe sessions. A much more credible way of calling up spirits though would be through the circle.
I was really curious about Ouija Boards really working or not so I tested it myself and now I'm nearly sure that it's nothing but the unconscious effort of mind to make a scene like in the movies.
One year ago, me and my friends just gathered altogether to test the board. I used every single way I could to summon a spirit (different chances, full concentration, sigils and what not) but nothing happened. My friend started cussing and insulting the spirit or asking for a prove. Even shouted to "kill her if it could" but not a single thing happened. And today she's still alive lol
So I would say yes, it's just a game unless you summon a more powerful entity other than just the dead.
