Tarot Cards

If you can't obtain your own tarot deck, would it be possible to make your own cards, out of sketch book paper or index cards, and would they be okay to use?

It's possible. The tricky part would be getting them all the same size, a shuffle-able size... basically, makeshift card stock doesn't tend to last for very long.

Then, even if you're a great illustrator, the sheer effort in 78 drawings might not exactly be worth it unless you go to an actual cardmaker and argh argh argh...

So, yes, playing cards might be one option. Lenormand, maybe?

What's stopping you from getting your own tarot deck? If you think you need to have it given and not bought, that's just a superstition. I bought my own deck and we work together really really well.

Yes you can make your tarot cards in anything you want with. For instance I made my own deck while using index cards. Then laster on I bought blank playing cards and made a new set of deck. :)

I want to learn cartomancy and taromancy. I have a deck of playing cards, but they're Black Butler and would make interpretation a little difficult. As for getting tarot cards, I've not much money not do I/can I drive. I live with family mbars and some of them would probably give me negative feedback/opinions about tarot cards and I don't want to deal with that. Also, I only know of one store that's not online that sells tarot cards and it's half an hour away. Problem is it's in a different town and I'm told I'm not allowed to walk places and I know I can't walk the freeway, so I would need a ride, but I would have to get it from one person I love with who's okay with that stuff and then not share where I've been or what I got with my other family members. So I was wondering if I could make my own tarot cards. Also, how well would they work? Someone mentioned them possibly not lasting as long, but other than that, would they be okay to use just temporarily?

Making your own deck will definitely work. If truth be told, I like to use my handmade deck more than the decks I bought. Yah, my handmade cards looks worn and messy, but it has it's own personality.

Also yes, your handmade deck will work as well as any deck you will buy in a store. And lastly, yes it will work for temporary.
