Samhain is the new year for some pagans, but it is celebrated on or around October 31. Some traditions celebrate it on the 28 and others on November 2.

Yule is the new year for other pagans, it is celebrated on the winter solstice which is on or around December 22 depending on the year.

Then there are other pagans that see Samhain as the end of the year and Yule as the beginning of the new one. The weeks in between are called the Dead Times. This time represents when a being is in the spirit world after it has died and before it is reborn. This is a time to look back on the past and meditate on it so that you can start the new year ready to deal with anything.
