7 types of magic
By:
I read somewhere that there are 7 types of magic. The person said the 7 types of magic are

1. The first one is natural magic, the magic of nature.
2. Talismanic magic.
3. Ceremonial magic
4. Invocative magic
5. Sympathetic magic
6. Illusionary magic
7. Divinatory magic

I know that 7 is a number that represents wholeness so do u think this is true

www.spellsofmagic.com anyone with any idea on the types of magic

I have been practicing magic for a while and have ran into this before. To an extent it is correct but there are so many other types of magic that I don't think that the list can be confined to just 7. I assume that you have read this article:

I too have read it and still think that there are more than listed here but I think that you could probably group the others into one of the listed headers.

A couple of the ones listed arnt types of magick at all but rather a type of casting. Just because you use a spoon and elbow grease instead of an electric beater doesn't mean that your not baking a cake.

There are really only two types of magic. Natural magic. A caterpillar changing into a butterfly would be an example of that.
And "applied" magic, that humans have been doing for thousands of years, and are still doing it today! But modern humans don't like the words witchcraft, or magic. They call it Medical Research; but they are doing the same things witches have always done. Changing things!

I feel like that division is more used by historians and anthropologists that study magic from the outside than by actual spell casters, at least personally I only ran into it in a couple of anthropology books (which doesn't make the division less legitimate, just means it was created to study magic)
