Wand Crafting 101

I am posting here about Wands and how to craft them.
First, what is a wand?
I wand is an essential tool at spellcasting. It is either, small and large in size. It is made of wood or branches from an old tree. Witches around the world use wands rather than staff because it is small and handy rather than staff, long and not easy to bring with.
Crafting 101
You will need the following items:
Athame or the wizard's knife
Old Branch or wood
First, pluck out a branch from an old tree you like using the Athame. Carve out its twigs, leaves and its outer skin. Next, carve it in any design you like. Then, you may add some varnish to look shiny.
Wood specializations,
Each branch of tree you are going to use has different specializations. The wood of oak is useful for spells that involves creativity, the wood of Yew for healing, the wood of Hazel for divinations, the Olive for reconciliations and the wood of Rise for love spells.
Hope this may be informative :)

Don't copy it over from somewhere else. Type directly into the forum box.

A wand is not essential in that it is not necessary for all witches, nor for all practitioners of magic. I have a wand (not made of wood) and I incredibly rarely use it as a director of energies. Because it is made out of lepidolite, I more often use it in that context than worry over directing my energies through it. However I tend to follow a particular culture where wand like objects are boar's tusks that have drawings of dangerous animals on them, and are used to protect pregnant women and to protect against nightmares, snakes, or scorpions. So for me, wands are unnecessary.

Wands are generally used in regards to directing energies better, which at a certain point most practitioners will find it no longer necessary to use (as direct energy is a bit more common/well practiced these days).

Staffs are as common as wands, however they are generally a bit more multipurpose; not only do they work for directing energy, but they also work for storing energy and for a walking purpose. Staffs are usually used amongst people with a more nature based practice (folks who live in areas where staffs aren't that odd), but I've even seen a few well made canes before.

Outside of that, you should really leave an offering for the tree spirit you are damaging by removing a part of them, as well as ask permission. It's like someone coming up to you and randomly cutting all your hair versus someone offering to do it; except you are cutting off the tree spirit's arms/fingers. It's just terribly rude.

All in all, a beautiful beginning. :)

I typed it directly to the box and wonder why it looked like that. I asked pixa about that and said my editor settings is in the text mode not in the HTML.

By the way, I forgot to type that offering part (hahaha) and the essential was just a typo. I was going to put 'optional' not 'essential'. Sorry though. Got my mind mixed off with different thoughts :)
