If someone is going to place a curse on someone, can the person being cursed also have an affect on the people around them that are close to them? And also, is there a protection spell to protect someone else from getting curses placed on them?
I have tried to answer this sort of question many times, especially for the young members. I will try again. A curse works on your own fear!
For a curse to work, three things have to occur:-
You need to KNOW that you've been cursed.
You need to KNOW the person who has cursed you.
And you must believe in curses.
Remember, it is your own fear! A curse cannot hurt you if you do not believe they can.
Brysings correct, if you worry about it, even if there was no curse, you can make a situation worse. [essentially cursing yourself] even if someone tells you they've cursed you, don't think about it, as they could just be lying to scare you anyway. if they're serious, without you worrying, the curse might mean you fail a test, or loose a book, or something that really isn't bad in the grand scheme of things.
curses can backfire, higher forms of magick come with a greater risk of backfire. if you're cursing someone for fun, or because they did something mundane like get the last burger at lunch, then there's a more likely chance it will backfire because cursing someone over that is silly and the universe has a way of evening things out. if you curse someone, you will feel negative effects even if it works [as i said, cursing someone is wrong, even if they did something to you, do negative and get negative] when casting you should protect those closest to you as they can be effected. lets say the curse backfires, what would hurt more, if you fell down the stairs because of a curse or your best friend fell down some stairs because of a curse you did?
yes, there's plenty of protection spells, chants, and charms you can wear/use to keep yourself safe from a curse or other people. cleansing and shielding yourself from negative energy on a regular basis is another good idea to keep yourself safe from people casting over you or negative energy bogging you down. however, all the protection amulets in the world can't protect you from negative karma if you did something bad and the universe feels you need to be taught a lesson.
A curse in its simplest form is a backward blessing. Truly! In many languages, the word curse does not exist, it is merely bad wishes to someone.
Although I do not agree that someone needs to know they are cursed to be cursed and for it to work, I do agree that fear of a curse can increase the power of a curse, making it more effective AND if there wasn't a curse to begin with, you will in fact curse yourself.
Can you be indirectly effected by a curse if it is placed on someone close to you. Certainly, yes. Can you protect yourself from getting splashed by your connections? Yes. The most common curses are unconscious or just weak in general and will fade away on their own, and shrugged off as "a string of bad luck" that went away. Any protection will prevent them. Seriously! It's super simple my seven year old daughter could do it.
If someone really takes the time to throw a REAL curse on you, you wouldn't be wondering if you were cursed, you would know it! But let's face it, you're probably not that bad off. The worst the average person ever has to face is a little case of the evil eye and they make it worse themselves, as Brysing pointed out. And there are so many layman methods of getting rid of that, 5 minutes of research on Google will teach you multiple effective ways.
A hex was originally a symbol that held magic power, such as a talisman. If you Google "Dutch hex" you will see what I mean. Again, this could be either positive or negative. A "hex" is a lot like saying "charm" or "spell". Of course when people began fearing witchcraft and the like, all things magickal were viewed as evil.
I'm really not here to disagree but your acting like this is pretty much an easy situation to overcome, not to mention the fact that when I curse someone I leave no trace of the curse ever taking place. Why tell someone that your going to curse them so they can defend themselves against it? That doesn't make any sense. I agree for the most part your not going to come across someone with a workable method that will literally end you but there are methods out there that are relatively easy to find and use if one was so inclined.
For instance if someone was adept in evocation they could evoke an entity that is the master at baneful work and that being wouldn't stop until the task is completed. Simple banishings would be ineffective when it comes to a Demonic King. Also most of these beings you can find in grimoires command legions of spirits and all of their legions could be assigned to this task if needed. Not only this the operator could also create an army of egregores to take care of this task in the same matter also.
For the most part people can be taken out by simple candle magick and effigy spells. Even an adept would feel the effects of one of these spells if done properly.
The key behind this is visualization and venerating your emotions into the spell. Stabbing an effigy over and over in a frenzy while uncontrollably screaming obscenities at the effigy works with deadly precision as long as the visualization is there. You have to SEE the person not the effigy when you do this. You have to know that the wounds that your inflicting on this individual is in fact real. As much finite detail you can visualize in this action the better. Afterwards, forget about your ritual and trust that your desire will be carried out. The results will amaze you.
There are a million more ways to curse an individual that I can put down but I hope I got the point across. With surgical precision in baneful magick, Ave Satanas.
I completely agree. The effect of a curse varies from a person to person and the methods you use to do so. Yet I don't believe any curse should be underestimated. If you're asking a higher spirit to help you in such a ritual, it does enhance the impact and cannot be ignored. Plus if you're not letting the target know about the curse, how can you expect the person to ignore something they don't know about?
About the people around the target, I believe it depends on the amount of the energy put in the curse. We do affect people with the emotions we feel or the energy we give. If ones aura is filled with negativity, it will influence others around.
Adding this, people have different opinions and each deserve respect even though it may sound nonsense. You don't have to believe in someone's idea but you have to respect yet show you disagree.
