Combat Magick

To understand What combat magick is, it is important to know what it is not. Combat magick is not shooting fire balls in the air, Grabbing and throwing someone hundreds of feet, nor teleporting behind an enemy to get an opening.

This begs the question "What is combat magick". Throughout my years of study I have found many ways to utilize magick in combat.

Combat magick is rarly a fast acting force. In a fight, a person would be lucky to accomplish even the most simple spells, because the difficulty of establishing focus. In this way all magick used in combat is usally variations of the basics such as energy manipulation. It is possible that a person can use a spell before hand to somehow effect the battle, but these often dont work in spectaculer ways. They are far more sudtle.

Energy manipulation is used in many martial arts. While striking someone can Visualize energy flowing into his arm lending strength to the blows. When hit you can use energy to take some of the bite from the blow. This can be done by visualizing your internal energy acting like a pillow against the force. These techniques require alot of practice to learn how to properly focus on mainting this intent while also paying attention to the battle.

There are severial techniques that can be used before hand. Though I am not proficient in them, there are spells that can help increase the chance of dodging blows. These are based on manipulating the users luck or in some cases they can make the victim unlucky. Another way of increasing your chances in combat (one im very skilled at) is meditation. Meditation beforehand can lend focus to one in the battle.

Another form of meditation are techniques that effect how a person reacts in battle. It is hard to describe what I mean here so ill show an example.

The Grey Mask Meditation.

no materials are really needed for this technique.

Effect: Allows user to harness anger as a tool of focus in battle. also as a side effect tends to dull anger outside of combat.

Every day for at least a week do the following.

spend 30-45 minutes in a state of deep meditation.

During this meditation visualize the person you hate most in your life. Then visualize that person wearing a grey mask. This mask can look like anything you desire as long as you retain your hatred towards it (thus humor is a bad idea). Now shift the hatred from this person to the mask. let everything they have done to wrong you be transfered to the mask. Let your mind hate the mask like no one else. Each day you can do the same person or someone else, its up to you. After a week the transfer of hatred should be complete. Next time your in a fight visualize your opponent wearing this mask. This should give you an edge because its so much easier to fight someone you hate. The person will feel less reason to hold back.

This can be dangerous as it allows a person to fight without holding back. be careful in its use and never visualize the mask on someone you dont want to hurt.

If someone angers you greatly, you may need to repeat the meditation to help focus the effect again.

If you have more to post feel free to add to this. I am in no way a master of magick so I could easily have missed something or even got something wrong.

Im sorry to say, but anger is a very bad tool to use. Though it can give you great power, it can start to control you, or make you miss things that a calm mind wouldn't. Anger gives you tunnel vision, and makes you lose control. The calmer you stay in combat, the better you can utilize your energy.

There is one problem with combat magic, and that is: if your body power is not matched to your mind, you will gravely injure yourself. You can be the most powerful sorcerer in the world, with massive amounts of energy, but if your body isn't strong enough, your powers will kill you.

You should start with a rigorous workout 6 days a week. As well as mental workouts before you try anything

I agree anger can do bad things if not controlled. however if properly controlled anger can be a very potent tool in combat.

Sorry for the double post.

I also agree that both mental and physical training is needed to both utilize combat magick in an effective manner, and in a safe manner.(if it can ever be considered safe)

Well then mage I give you this: if its controlled, can it even be considered anger?

magick acts on a set of predetermined facters, thus it is controlled. The grey mask uses magick only in the stage of meditation when your chaneling your hatred to the mask. after this point there is no magick in this. that is one of the reasons it works well in combat. anger can make someone fight well past the time they may normally quit. it can lend strength to someones blows and lets them be more agressive in a fight.
if it is allowed to gain full control of a person it can have detremental effects in combat, but any one who hasnt learned to control there emotions, needs that control before they can use alot of the disciplines of magick.

misread your post. I thought you said magick couldnt be controlled and was confused. so disregard my first line of my reply. A better answer: There can be controlled anger, A calm fury. not every one can get to that point, but if they dont, this meditation still can be useful. Berserking is a often used, and more often successful tactic then most martal artist would normally admit.

(sorry if these post look bad, I have to leave for one of my college classes and am typing quickly)

apologies to say, but there is a specific, very old brand of magic which is specificly designed for combat, i wont say fireballs or hurling your enemies, but there are powerful curses and spells which are best done with a coven, and with battle. holder magic. ill get around to posting about it sooner rather than later

looking back at this I cant believe how much I rushed writing it. Ill try to rewrite it in the next day or so with less grammar and spelling mistakes as well as extending it a bit. if you think I should add anything to this rewrite please let me know.
