I'm incredibly new to all this, and I just tried my third or fourth spell. The first few ones I tried I never felt anything, but I recently tried a chanting love spell "(Insert name) You say you don't, but I know you do, you love me this is only true" and as I did it I felt out of body, kind of afraid and just strange and then really energized, powerful, happy and giddy after. Is that normal? What are your experiences? Does that mean it's working?
Note that I only did the love spell because I don't have the money for anything over chanting a few words with candles. I just used the name of someone I've been interested in, and if it doesn't actually work that's fine.

I suspect that the reason you felt strange and giddy was because you did not properly ground and center before and after casting the spell.
I would also suspect that since you don't really care whether the spell worked or not then it did not work at all. Magic is not a toy to play with, especially when it involves another person. If you don't care whether the magic works or not then you shouldn't be doing it at all.
When it comes too spell casting you need too do the research on what ever you are doing. If you open door way make share you close them behind. Things do get out. When doing spells never have d'out see it through. If you don't its not going work.
That feeling you've described, is an early indicator that you have successfully raised and channeled some degree of energy through your bodies meridians.
It's not an indication outright that your spell has worked, but it IS a clear indicator that you're on the right track in terms of being able to raise and direct the energies necessary for casting effective spells.
People experience different sensations when working with these subtle energies, but when I was first learning to work with them, I would often have an increased sensation of my etheric double, almost as if my aura felt more dense and palpable after a working.
I'd suggest forgoing the spells in and of themselves, and start working with your own energies, and awareness of them.
Learn to sense how it feels moving into and through out your body, and learn to use your will to direct it along specific pathways. There is a lot of reading material available online regarding different methods of energy manipulation and how it pertains to casting spells or performing rituals. Not all of it is advisable, but it's there for anyone eager enough to pursue it. Do your research, question everything, and experiment frequently, recording results and sensations for later reference. This type of energy work enhances most spells/rituals and often leads to passive forms of psychism that will serve you well throughout life. Think of your ethereal body as a muscle. Just like any other muscle, you need to learn how to work it, strengthen it, and properly utilize it.
Well, I hope you get some kind of result then. It's so hard to love someone and not feel it back. Be patient. It will either work or it isn't meant to work. xoxo
