the basic idea is using a black reflective surface eg a black mirror of black bowl of water and gazing into it as a divination tool or spy depending who you are talking to.

There are many guides on this site on how to do it but it can take a bit practice.

i also have questions about scrying because I've just read a book (yes it was fiction but I stumbled upon this forum and it struck me) but In the book it said scrying was a way to see things but you can only see what you've already seen. You can't just randomly look at a place or person, but since this book is fiction I was wondering about any further information regarding the idea if anyone is to offer any.

What about looking at a mirror in a dark room?
