palo mayombe spirit house

Apologies if I put this in the wrong topic. I heard in this mystical tradition that spirits the practitioner works with are kept in a " spirit house", I have this agate jar. Will that work or is this a bad idea?

First off, I would like to state that Palo Mayombe is an initiatory religion and you can't just get into it. I would consider anything you don't know completely and are attempting to do as a bad idea. The spirits of Palo are not to be messed around with, especially from someone who has no experience or guidance from a Godfather. The Nikisi do not live in a jar, they are worked through the Nganga or Prenda; it is given to you by your Godfather once you are initiated in the religion. If you have no initiation at all and no experience in the matter, then I would recommend you not to do anything. If you were to do anything, it would either not work or it would backfire on you.

Palo mayombe sounds very intriguing. From what i have read it is one of the most powerful magic. But, from what i read the spirit decides if you can be initiated into that religion. Very intriguing.

Yes the tatas(fathers) nfumbe(spirit) decides whether you kuenda(work/walk/belong) in palo. This is because tatas are just people, and the nfumbe can see you for who you really are, and can see what your spiritual needs are... Keep in mind this is an exclusive religion, one that calls out to those who belong. One does not simply wake up in the morning and say today I will be a tata or yaya...
