It depends on the person asked. Some see spells as a call to the universe for a desire to be made manifest in one form or another in their world. Others see it as subtle energy sent along the way to help with the desire one is trying to achieve in this world. Or, spells craft spirits who are fed and cared for while being sent to do a specific task. Another could say a spell is simply a ritual calling for progress (the magical result) to happen in the caster's world. And other ideas exist...
There are books trying to explain why spells work, but again, it's really up to you to decide. Generally though, it's believed the spell will only work on practical desires, and the caster needs to work non-spiritually for their result to happen. I always loved Phil Hine's door metaphor in Oven Ready Chaos . Essentially, for a spiritual working to be successful, there needs to be a door open for all the hard work to go through. Without a door being open, there will be blocks and no success. For a door to be open for the money/job spell, you need to be searching, applying, calling, and working hard to find a job. There are some spells which do remove blocks and open doors, but again, it's important to work non-spiritually for the desire too.

Okay I believe I understand. Thank you for the input. I feel like, and I'm new so I might learn a new perspective later on, that at the most basic of explanations a spell will help you out with something within reason as long as you are working along side the spell is what I'm getting from that. But I could be all kinds of wrong:)
Now from reading a bunch of stuff on the forums I can see that spells aren't in the realm of reality, as I had gathered and why I asked my original question on how does it work. I have also realized that Wiccan is not a very good way to describe myself, and I've basically just thrown myself. I'm very confused, not about Wicca but about how I can go about describing my spirituality? I know labels are lame or whatever but it's kind of imperative to have some sort of defining name so I can go forth and learn more about whatever that might be.
spells are just medium of your power so it means that you have faith on your self that you can do it and leave your expectations behind if you cant do it on the first try dont lose hope all you need is just a momentum , just like a baby trying to learn how to walk
