Well, you've posted under the "Vodou" forum, so that's a thing....

My best advice is to peruse the popular authors on witchcraft: Scott Cunningham, Gemma Gary, and Owen Davies to name a few off the top of my head. Really, experience and research are going to be your best friends.

Typically mentors are best met in person. I recommend checking out your local covens and related groups, they'll help you along the way and might introduce you to people taking proteges. Just don't go looking for power. You only gain power once you've gained respect.
