I am brand new here. I have never casted a spell, but I want to. I need recommendations from the professionals on which spell to choose. I will provide details on my situation but first can someone tell me if I am posting this question in the correct place? Thank you!
If you are interested in spell casting, it is advisable to learn what magic is, how it works, what it can do, and what it cannot do. After that it helps to work with some of the more basic practices that are used in spell work before trying to cast a spell.
I would suggest at first you could try candle spells. Study about the pre spell rituals like cleansing, grounding and centering, casting your circle etc. People have different practices, explore the ritual you're comfortable with. The first time I casted a spell was a wish spell. It was a practical one and you should always wish for the possible. Always an advice don't just jump into casting spells. First enhance your visualizing as well as meditating skills. Learn about candle color meanings. Days and moon phase correspondences in relation to your intent.
Here's an article you can check out if you want to learn about Days and moon phase correspondences
If you're brand new I highly suggest going to the articles tab and reading the SoM Survival Guide, Getting Started on SoM, FAQs, and Reference: Types of Magick articles. These articles are great things to read before getting started on magick because they tell you what magick can and cannot do and different features of the site and how it works.
One thing I want to make clear first, is that magic cannot change your DNA in any way nor can it make you fly, teleport, go invisible, etc. Claiming to do any of these things, especially in public chatter, is considered roleplay and will result in you being banned from using the communication features of this website.
In addition, it is highly recommended that you do not perform a spell that involves you injuring yourself or others and/or consuming strange things that you don't know about. Some spells may require you to consume a potion of some kind made of herbs or other things, however it's possible that it can be dangerous if consumed by humans so it is best that if you do end up trying one of these spells, to research ALL the ingredients to ensure safety.
When it comes to spellcasting for beginners it is always recommended to study the basics first (i.e. meditation, visualization, grounding, centering, etc.) because it will significantly improve your results when you try to cast a spell. Spells that involve little to know tools like candle spells and incantation spells (spells that only require your voice) have been agreed to be the best kind of spells for beginners such as yourself.
As others have said, meditation and centering your self. Candle magic is a bit tricky with color and number, but if you use the right amount and right color, you'll be fine.
I started with psychic abilities and causing change that way.
If you want to start casting spells, it's import to understand how spells are theoretically supposed to work.
Magic (as opposed to psychic abilities) either asks spirits to work for you, or uses correspondences to make things "resonate" (ie. vibrate at the same frequency). Vibration and resonance are more complicated than I can explain quickly, but the simple answer is when you do something that same thing happens. It's more prominent in sound waves. When you hit the C key on a piano, all the other strings that have the same fundamental frequency will also vibrate. Strings that have a frequency of 440hz will vibrate when one is struck and starts to vibrate, but also notes of higher octaves will also vibrate. There is a magical maxim that describes this: "As above, so below". This translates to "things of higher frequency resonate when a vibration occurs, and so do lower frequencies too."
As far as asking spirits, it's helpful to learn to astral travel so you can meet astral spirits. I don't particularly practice this type of magic, but I at least understand that this is how people do magic. Using spirits to do magic is sort of like asking your friend from across the room to light a fireplace for you. Using resonance is more like using a remote control to turn on your tv. For invocation/evocation magic (asking spirits for help) you have to set up a relationship with spirits. For resonance magic, you have to set up correspondences the same way you would set up a universal remote. Use lists of existing correspondences to help.
Candles are a nice place to start, but doing arts and crafts are also good, inexpensive correspondences.
I hope this helps. If you want to know more about psychokinesis, I can give you more info on that, otherwise find one or two people to study under. I recommend that you chose a practice though.
