Hair Offering?

Alright so this might get a little weird and it might just be a dumb question. I was wondering if hair is ever used as an offering? I see it used in love spells and voodoo dolls.

But what I'm talking about is the idea of using your own hair as a symbolic offering to your god. I Googled it and it doesn't appear to be a thing. I don't know what made such a random thought cross my mind.

But as I pondered it I can see how it might demonstrate ones loyalty and devotion. It is a small part of yourself after all. "I give you me." So perhaps even willing servitude.

Has anyone ever come across any stories or articles similar to this idea before? Thank you all for the time spent indulging my curiosity. I appreciate it very much.

Not really no. I haven't heard of offering one's own hair to a deity before. Unless you take the idea of shaving your head in penance, or something, as a form of offering. Or growing your hair out and taking care of it in honor of the deity (self love and care is popular among Aphrodite devotees).

Now, the idea of offering other's hair, as in hair from the animal sacrifice, was a part of proper Hellenic worship. The animal, after being sprinkled with lustral water, had a bit of it's hair cut and burned at the altar. But this wasn't the only thing given. It was sort of an introduction of the sacrificial animal I guess.

i'd never offer hair or blood especially in something like voodoo. you are pretty much asking for a dark spirit to possess you.
