I don't know what a summoning partner is, you need to be more descriptive with your questions, do you mean familiar or spirit animal?

I mean someone/something who I can make a pact with that I can summon when I need them. (nothing evil/demonic though)

You want to invoke/summon someone or something to help you and make a pact with? To be honest that wouldn't be a good idea, but that's my opinion.

I think if you want help with your spells, a familiar (it can be an animal you are more drawn too, mine is my cat) would safer, they are there to aid you in spells, hince why most people (not all) who do magick have one. I also think you should study more before invoking/summon a spirit or a god/goddess, you need a lot of experience, before you do, trust me I know, I failed once when I tried to invoke/summon a god.

well they don't have to be gods or goddesses, but they can't be so small as a familiar either.

I would suggest learning the difference between invoking and evoking for starters. Also, if you know who/what you are trying to "summon" that would be a good idea. I think it unwise to try to summon a deity, angel, demon or whatever when you know nothing about them. Many believe if you are asking for help or favors you might be expected to give an offering or something in return. I would recomend always showing respect. Not sniveling and groveling...just treat others how you would like to be treated.
