I have used Violets for a few things. One was in conjunction with other herbs to help with astral projecting as I find them to be helpful with calming the nerves and helpful in bringing about visions. I haven't yet, but would love to use violets in a dream pillow or in a sachet along with lavender to help bring on prophetic type dreams and maybe help with falling asleep as that has been elusive to me at times.
Here is some general information on Violets:
Violets (Viola in Latin) are a Spring Flowering Plant, found mostly in the temperate Northern Hemisphere and are also distributed in Hawaii, Australasia, and the Andes in South America.
Ordinary Violets, Common Blue Violets, Sweet violets and Garden violets are some of the popular varieties of violets. Most Violets are small perennial plants, but a few are annual plants and some are small shrubs.

Mars really likes red and purple so I would use it as an offering first and foremost as I do just about all flowers. Magickally I have never used them but I suppose I could craft them into a love spell to use on my anniversary to renew my vows and such. Though I am not formally married yet I like exchanging promises, words of love, and doing a little something on our anniverary or Valentine's Day.

This is so nice! I'm glad now I can tell a little about them >:+)
Violets, were used in 1910-1950 (estimate) by gay women to woo, or show their affection for other women. This also has to do with the Greek poet Sappho, since she and her lover wore violet garlands. I think this is why a lot of people use the word sapphic as a label!
And this post

Talks about violets in more detail than I can :+)
All in all I really love them, and mostly just because I think they're pretty ha!
