I have seen, read and wrote a lot of spells and tried them, they don't work (most of it involves dragons and other entities, but mostly dragons), and when I search for what went wrong it's shown that it's not real and nothing but a 'fantasy' or 'fiction'. So could anyone be kind enough to tell me where to draw the line between magic and fantasy?
well first of all if you are casting fantasy spells you probably don't know the basics of spell casting. i advice you go the FAQS of this website and read about the basics and getting started. if you don't know about meditation, grounding, centereing, energy manipulation, or how magick actually works, none of your spells will happen. it isn't just reading poetry or lighting candles.
as far as where to draw the line- any spells that claim to change you into or to cumin vampires, werewolves, dragons, mermaids, and the rest are fake. Also spells that claim to change your appearance like hair and eye color.
Dragons are real in a form and their are serious practitioners of dragon magick, but dragons are not tangible or visible creatures of our world. Dragons live in the astral plane, so if you wish to meet any dragons you'll have to astral project. Dragon magick is in a way a whole different system of beliefs, but still they are not actually real in our realm. vampires and werewolves are just not real at all in any realm and you should avoid spells and people who claim that they are.
You've got to think laterally and logically about what's realistic. Does this sound like it could break the laws of nature, the laws of science, or any accepted "realistic" principle? If it does, then the spell isn't real.
If you're just starting out, the first big step with magic is knowing what isn't real, before you can move on to what is real. A lot of the time we start with a theory of it "works until proven fake", where really we should assume "fake until proven working".
That's not to say everything you'll encounter isn't going to work, some of it just takes time, practice, and experience. A lot of entity work takes time and practice. And when I was time, I mean time, you've got to have particular understandings before you branch into those realms.
If you can let us know how much experience you have, or what particularly you're looking to get out of magic, we can do our best to point you in better directions.
When looking at the spells think to yourself "Is this possible without magick?". In the end as odd as it is to say magick can't do anything you cannot achieve on your own. Some say it helps get the odds in your favor while others say it can help a process along such as speeding up the healing process, helping you channel a boost of energy to get something done, etc... In the end magick is primarily positive thinking with energy channeling and spiritual communication thrown into the mix. I've heard spells compared to things like prayer as well. When you think of magick you often picture being able to achieve the impossible, but sadly magick is limited by the laws of nature, the laws of science, etc...as we are.
From what I understand, fantasy spells on this site are mainly to attract traffic. Anyone from anywhere is able to join spell casters and add spells so you need to be able to use discretion and common sense. If the spell contains anything regarding something that would most likely be in a sci-fi movie or book, chances are it won't work.
I've noticed that the line between magic and fantasy can be extremely thin at times, but the more you question it the thicker and more defined that line becomes. As Hodge said, you need to think logically and consider if it goes against the laws of physics. I don't necessarily agree that you need to assume something is fake until it is proven to work, because you can miss out on a great deal here. If we didn't challenge thoughts and reality, our rewards wouldn't be as great. If we considered things to be fake until proven to work, but if it's proven to be hog-wash, why challenge it?
Be open minded, because you never know what will walk in, but on that same note, don't let just anything walk in there. If you entertain thoughts that what is unreal is possible, and experimentation results in failure, then why continue? Dragons don't exist on this realm, however they are considered to exist in other realms by numerous cultures, and they are rich with symbology
An example of this is that you aren't able to physically summon a dragon, but on other planes and realms you are able to tap into the symbology and the essence of what dragons stand for. You can summon their strength, or their beauty even, but not them physically.
Who ever told you dragons are fantasy are wrong, I have known people on this site like Nekoshema who practices dragon magick. What you may have been doing to cast spells may be the reason why they arnt working, You can just wave a want and make you desire appear out of thin air.
If you're serious about learning how to do magic and with starting from the rock-bottom then you don't start out by casting spells, you start out by learning how and why magic works.
You see, there is no such thing as an "easy" spell or a "beginner" spell. One either understands how magic works and has mastered the basics...in which case the magic will work..or you haven't done that sort of work..and no spell will work no matter how "easy" it seems.
Casting a successful spell involves much more than finding some spell on the internet or in a book, saying some words, lighting a candle, waving a wand of any of that sort of thing. In order for magic to work you need to understand how and why it works in the first place. Grounding and centering, visualization, focus and intent, energy manipulation, etc are all necessary first steps to even begin to have a chance at a spell actually working...and more importantly to prevent a spell from back-firing on you.
So, my advice for anyone who is truly serious is to start by reading a few books and practicing the exercises those books will give you. Once you have mastered the basics you won't need anyone to give you spells, you'll be able to create your own spells that will be far more effective than anything you find on the net. Here's the books I suggest:
"Before You Cast a Spell" by Carl McColman
"Spells and How They Work" by Janet and Stewart Farrar
"The Veil's Edge" by Willow Polson
"Modern Magick" by Donald Michael Kraig
And the following links in this thread will also help you learn the basic skills necessary for effective spellwork.
Well it depends on your spells in question. Dragons are seen as spiritual beings that can help guide you. They are guiding spirits, they don't typically help random people with spells. Spells are energy based, and do not require a divine intervention therefore you don't need to call on dragons for spells to work.
Secondly, what spells are you casting? Dragons don't control magick, magick is a natural energy in the universe. While you could call on a spiritual being [Dragon, faeries, angels] or a deity for assistance in the spell [and some can help] the major reasons spells work is you focused this neutral energy and visualized your desired outcome [and worked to achieve your goal] thing about magick, it only effects energy, so if you're casting spells to say become a dragon, it won't work because magick doesn't create instant physical changes. It follows the law of nature. You can cast a spell to attract/repel energy to help create a desired outcome, but these changes have to be natural and plausible without magick.
I suggest you study the basics of magick and understand what it is and how it works before casting more spells. Also, if dragons interest you, try starting a dialogue with them before calling on them for spells.
