Meaning of this letter?

I had been fooling around with birth charts with my friends. So far it seems to be pretty accurate and it seems I am to interpret them. However, with a friend of mine, she is the only where an specific letter appeared near a sign, in this case Mars. Does anyone know what this means? She is girl and it being on Mars means it probably connects with her love life.

if you are referring to the little 'r' put with the mars symbol, My assumption is that it might mean the planet is in retrograde. Retrograde is when the planet appears to be moving backwards compared to its normal yearly path in the night sky. It's an illusion created by the relationship between our planetary orbits.
