Yes, though it's very difficult and you'll need to be far stronger than your target.
Think about what happens when a practitioner willingly enters a possession. They invoke the spirits energy and will, then allow it to take control. The forced possession works in a similar way, except the take over and energy transfer is forced. By projecting to the target, you could take similar steps to possess them.
Bear in mind that you'll have to compete with their desire to avoid possession, human will is very strong and it can take alot to overcome it. It's this strength of will that makes unwanted possessions so rare and almost unheard of in those who regularly practice.
I'd suggest you use a manipulative ritual. It's far easier to discretely manipulate someone through standard magic than it is to directly possess them. I'll put it this way; I've been doing this kind of magic for years, but I still can't pull of a full forced possession.
