What is the best way to prep?
is it better to do it before you go to bed or right when you wake up?
Should you eat and have a glass of water before and after or just before or after?
I know grounding and mediation is before and after but is there anything else?
Honestly, a lot of these questions depend more on what works best for you personally. For example, Im usually too tired when I wake up to astral travel without accidentally falling asleep, but if youre more of a morning person then thatll likely be what you prefer.
I think its always good to drink lots of water, but Im not sure eating and drinking will really affect the experience, so dont worry about that too much.
If you plan to interact with any spirits, I highly recommend setting up wards and protecting yourself before you travel as well. Its best to not accidentally bring back something nasty with you during your experience.

Most advice is to practice in the morning, as many people are less likely to drift off to sleep.
As for eating and drinking, if you're so hungry or thirsty that it would distract you from your attempt, then by all means. But don't consume enough to also distract you.
Morning but not when you wake up; about 5-6 hours of sleeping, works diff.for everybody. Before bed you usually fall asleep... I've heard of grounding doesn't help because if you ground on Earth you'll be connected to her and won't leave. There are other was of balancing as well; eg you could ground on yourseld and connect with yourself.
Before, some would be good but not too much because you may want to go to toilet.
Me personally i think you should do it right when your about to fall asleep . Because that's when your body is about to shut down, so it kinda makes it easier to fall asleep while consciously staying awake.
I do it at night because that's when I can clear my mind a bit more and I know where I want to go. ive experienced a few times and I got really sick and cold it was cool
I found it works best in the morning. Your mind is in a state of waking up, but your body is still relaxed enough to let your consciusness do what it wishes. Recently I had thought of a friend who had passed almost 3 years ago and wondered how he was doing. Knowing I hadn't successfully projected yet, I tried this with the intention of finding my friend, in hopes that it might work. Eventually I was able to see him, happy and well. We had a brief moment of communication, though no words were exchanged. I knew at that point that he was in a good place, I just can't travel there yet.
