Sage Home blessing:

Take a stick of sage and light it.And with a feather or with your hand (Palm towards you) lightly wave the smoke away from you. Start with the back to the front so no evil spirits are trapped withing the house! If you have an upstairs, do that first, from back to front, then go downstairs and do thatnext. If you want to do the outside go from back to front going in a clockwisecircle. Never gocounterclockwise for it gives off bad energy.

Moving clockwise or anticlockwise is a matter of belief. Many traditions teach that moving clockwise (deosil-- the direction of the sun) is for drawing into a space, evoking, or invoking energy, and that moving counter-clockwise (widdershins) is for banishing, clearing, and clearing a space.
