Spell backfired?

I did this ritual to help me have a prophetic dream, but instead I got this dream within a dream situation where I woke up (within a dream), covered my head (I do that when I get super scared of a dream that looks real) and suddenly this invisible energy lifted my covers and then I woke up for real feeling exhausted and an invisible presence in the room that scared me even more.

This entire day has also been super sucky, I messed up my work, my usual order at the restaurant was spicy and I hate spicy food (I get nausea), my plans fell through.

Got any ideas what it is? Did my ritual and spell backfire? Any tips on how to get rid of this negative energy?

Sounds like it did backfire a bit. To remove the negative energy, I would suggest performing a cleansing ritual in your room and saging your entire house. You may have invited an unwelcome spirit into your mind, which is why it's important to word intentions carefully.
Make sure your wards are working properly, and it might be a good idea to say a prayer or keep some lavender under your pillow before you go to sleep again to ensure the energy won't cone back.
