Discomfort

Is it alright to not miss parents? I don't know how to explain myself... I just don't miss them as much as I thought I would or have been told I should. When I was with them I almost always felt anxiety or some other form of trouble. Even when I visit it feels odd... I don't know how to explain it.

But right now I feel anxious and unsettled. I feel like I've done something wrong, which is a common occurrence with them, haha. It's like a pressure on my manubrium and I don't know how to get rid of it. I know I've done nothing but there will always be an anxiousness with them.

My biggest point with this, I guess, is I'm asking for help with this feeling. I'm probably going to take a long shower to ease my nerves but does anyone have advice on how else I could try to calm down? (I'm sorry if I'm a little scattered in writing this. I can't tell if what I typed is completely understandable, I'm all frazzled)

Your not alone i get the same feeling around ny parents. It depends if they have done something to you or you just don't like them and that is totally normal.Just try talking to them, mabey they will understand. If you cant do that try talking to a friend to get your mind of your family but its good to visit your family once in a while. They love you no matter what, Remember that.

Did you just move out or did they die? It could be your body in shock and not yet adjusted to the new reality. You might also be depressed if emotions are on mute. If you've never had a close relationship to them, they never accepted you for you, and felt uneasy at home, than you probably aren't feeling anything because you never had that parental bond. Knowing you should feel bad makes me think you're ok, reflect on your situation to determine if it's shock, depression, or just no deep emotional connection in the relationship.
