Book advice

I want to get a book for begginners, I think i'll get Scott Cunnigham's for that. But at the same time I want a book with easy basic spells in it. Like something for a beginner to practice.

Do you have any suggestions for me??

If you're a complete beginner I'd recommend waiting at least for a bit to read up on magick and how it works.

If you've been researching for a while and are ready to start casting, are you looking for spells that have to do with a particular path or tradition? Such as spells that only work within the context of a specific religion?

If not, it might be better to find some online. If you understand magick well enough to be casting, you'll be able to tell which spells are fake and which aren't, and that way you don't have to spend money on a book that may or may not end up having what you're looking for. There are also free PDFs of spellbooks online if you'd like to look into those instead, though in that case be careful that you're using a trustworthy site.

  • Raymond Buckland's" Complete Book of Witchcraft"

This book will help you learn traditional spell-craft along with the context of how spells and rituals are structured.

  • Donald Michael Kraig's " Modern Magick "

Though this book has served as a guide to learning High and Ceremonial Magicks, it has useful information on dreams, meditations, and how to incorporate regular rituals into your daily life

All the resources in the world mean nothing if you are unwilling to apply the experiences and lessons.

That being said, doing some solo research is always a great start, and Scott Cunningham is a well reputed author in many pagan communities. Judika Iles, Kenaz Filan, and Michael Harner are all other great authors, though may not be what you are currently looking for, but worth a look in to.

SoM also has a lot of information that if compiled, is worth more than any of these authors because our community is based off of thousands of contributors, rather than one. There's a lot of experiences shared here by those learning, and there's a lot of wisdom from people who've practiced longer than the Internet. If you'd like to do some on-site research, start with thepinned posts in the public forums. Think about and try to apply what you learn. You get what you put into your Craft.

If I could add my two cents, Paul Huson’s “Mastering Witchcraft” was an excellent source for me and aided me in a lot that I do in my craft. “Traditional Witchcraft: A Cornish Book of Ways” by Gemma Gary is also good, I like it just because it also reminds you to not being relying solely on books and actually explore the environment you’re in, see what you have at your disposal to perform your magic

There is a lot of good suggestions here and I cut my teeth on Scott Cunningham's writings for sure, but Horsenettle has a point, there is a wealth of knowledge online, and even at the library, that was not available when I was a kid. It would be a good way to find out what feels right to you, be it path-wise, author-wise or other personal tastes. Those books can get pricey, and if you find an author or style you like or are introduced to online (via spells and excerpts) you can always purchase the tomes when you have narrowed it down some. It is always lovely to hold a book! And even better when you know its a good one ;)

*another good reason to start your search online is you can use your findings to craft together your own lovely, personalized book of shadows by compiling all of the discoveries that resonate with you.

Have fun with it!

I'd recommend books from the author and occultist Dion Fortune. He has some pretty good published books, I'd recommend 'The Mystical Qaballah'
